The cat probably just got done eating the chicks or eggs… which is why it didn’t retaliate immediately.
You can see the cat literally flying after the bird. Where I thought the cat would land… it didn’t. It stayed in flight for another foot or so.

When I was moving my bed in to my house, I took a look at the bottom side and was like HOLYSHITLOLUCRAZYCAT.
Doesn’t use her feet at all.
