I had Open Office on my compute for a while (its not as compatible as they say) and I recently got MS office. When I download and open some documents they default to OO, and I want to get away from it asap. I would just uninstall it, but I havent converted everything over yet…
Start >> Control Panel >> Default Programs >> Associate File Type or Protocol With A Program.
or Right Click on the desired file select the “Open With…” >> Select the program from the list >> Make sure the check box is selected that says “Always use selected program to open this kind of file”
.doc is already associated with Word, yet OO still opens it. maybe it has something to do with FF?
Can windows media player play .3g*** files that are normally associated with Quicktime? I hate quicktime.
Easiest way.
Try the first method I posted, see if that works.
never seen the .3g*** files what are they?
I rearranged the list by ‘current default’ and noticed that quicktime has a lot of defaults, I just happened to see a few .3g extensions and thought that was it for quick time. What I want to gain is to only use quicktime when nothing else will play a certain file, windows media for everything else. This is only a problem on webpages where I click on a video and it opens a new page with the quick time movie, I want it to either open as a windows media player ‘page’ or into the windows media program itself.
This has always bugged me and idk how to fix it…
That is a file extension on the server end. If the video on a website is .wmv it will most likely open in a windows media player interface. If it is a .mp4 it will probably open in a quicktime interface.
