chevy volt not selling = increase production

doubt it, thats the problem with GM and they know it… instead of giving away 1000’s in rebates they just actually built a car right and are selling it at a good price

once they start doing rebates be prepared to see values drop dramatically all around… hell biggest rebate on corolla ive seen is $750, nothing like the thousands that gm/hyundai are known for

Who knows how things will pan out next year - though Consumer Reports (normally a Honda fan) isn’t recommending the new '12 Civic…

Yeah I saw that. Unfortunately public perception and educated product testers are two different animals.
But I agree between the Sonic, Cruze, 2012 Malibu; the small to mid-sized line up will be the most competitive it has ever been.
Hopefully the Impala updates comes faster than 2013. Throwing a 300 hp V6 into a 6 year old chasis, is not going to make that platform competitive.

The Cruze is pretty nice, but you’re comparing the new Cruze to a old gen chassis of the civic and corollas. Also put in the major kickbacks and incentives for Cruzes vs the “low supply - we don’t need incentives to sell our cars - we have very limited stock” Hondas and Toyotas, you’re going to see pretty good numbers sales numbers for it.

Either or, this is win win for American car companies, who are finally not sucking ass with the compact car market… and more. It’s just strange to me that we get an old chassis from elsewhere (European Ford Focus, Holden chassis) and we go gaga for it (they are quite good), but no one realizes this shit has been around for years already, and we’ve been getting the shit of the shit here in the US because, AMERICA, FUCK YEAH!!! mentality.

Couple good points, but my only issue with your statement is that the Cruze has a bunch of kickbacks or huge incentivized rates, when in fact there has been very minimal.
Checking Chevrolet’s website there is current $0 kcikbacks and 2.9% for 60 month which is about what you can get at a credit union.
No doubt, Toyota and Honda have tired metal on the lot, but the Cruze has been out for a couple years in other parts of the world as well. Not nearly the same time as the Honda/Toyota, but it is not like a mid cycle refresh is that far away.

mk3 focus was released simultaneously with Europe. I hope ford realizes that you can’t go 11 years on the same platform anymore.

lol @ Quattro Krant’s thumb up

That statement was retarded. Honda has a hybrid out, and it sells like dog shit.

The statement was sarcasm, at least about the Honda badge…

Just pointing out people hate the Volt without driving one, seeing the engineering development that will lead to the next generation, or understanding any of the business model/motivation behind the car. Would it sell better for $5k less? Sure, that’s a no brainer. Would people who bitch about having to “bail out GM” appreciate GM doing what Toyota did with the first Gen Prius and sell for a loss? Doubtful.

If someone is serious about wanting to drive a Volt, message me. I have the one at my work available for demo use (with me riding with you). No asstarding or Indy 500 crap. This is a serious offer for someone that can appreciate the technology and isn’t wearing blinders as a Honda leghumper.

And it helps if I know who you are too and not some punk with a 96 Neon that’s beat and doesn’t appreciate cars.
