Classic Muscle Car Talk ITT

Would love to build a dart with a modern 426 or a duster with a turbo 5.7 hemi.

my brothers putting a magnum 5.2 in one right so the 5.7 is deff doable

My all time favorite was the 1970 Chevelle. I’ve owned three 1970 Chevelles, a 350 Malibu,(highschool car), SS396 car that I put an LS6 in. Ran 12.1 back in the early 90’s and weighed almost 4100 with me in it, and a real SS454 LS5 bench seat, 4 spd car that I sold to Gary Jelley in Pownal, VT when I moved to Arizona in 2001. I wish I would have kept that 454 car…and my 68 Camaro…and my 69 440 dart… :frowning: I am into the 1969 Chevelle style now because as much as I loved the 70-72 Chevelles, they were TANKS! Unless you wanted to gut the hell out of it and put fiberglass everything on it they were just plain heavy!

As far as the BBC vs. SBC debate…there IS no debate. Naturally aspirated, a well built BBC will destroy a SBC dollar for dollar…new LSX style engines not included of course. I am talking old school here. You can build a 460ci small block now, but you can also build an 800ci+ BBC too if you have enough cash. Give me the same amount of cash to spend and I GUARANTEE my big block will beat the small block in the same car with matching components!

Cars I would love to own now… 1970 Chevelle SS454 LS6 car, 1968 Yenko 427 Camaro, 1969 ZL1 Camaro, 1967 427 435hp Vette, 1971 440+6 Cuda, 1968 1/2 428 Mustang. Yes, I am a Chevy guy at heart, but I love all old musclecars!

Because the cars above were all stock, original, or resto? Maybe the camio was original…

Obviously I’m partial to Firebirds and Pontiacs. Lemme dig up som shiz

Not at all , I grew up around mopars . Dollar for dollar a 440 will spank a hemi

have you seen the Demon theyre building in Car Craft?

a hemi vs a 440 same car same trans same gear. the hemi wins everytime if ur talking about prices yea the hemi costs a shit ton more but it is what it is

No. Is it nice?

Its a budget build using a newer 5.7 Hemi and a turbo setup. The car was bought as a roller with a drag rear setup and they just installed a front suspension clip.

Where can i see it?

in the magazine. Its an ongoing project. Maybe on their site or facebook too?

i knew the Duster, Demon, Valiant and Scamp were all the same, but i could’ve sworn the Dart was around first.
Eh, i wont argue, you seem to know what you’re talking about, which means im wrong.

This isn’t an awesome muscle car as it sits but this is my 1971 GMC Sprint that is staying at my parents in CA for now. I would like to one day restore it very nicely but it probably won’t happen as for the time being it listed for sale.

if you say this isnt one of the most famous cars in history, you are lying through your teeth.

Wanna put money on that ? I can show ya 2 challengers that are the same with one a hemi and 1 a440 and the hemi don’t win .

thers abs no way a 440 wins they rev slower there under powered compared to a hemi were talking 390 +/- horse to the hemi that is underrated and close to 500hp stock for stock man theres no comparison

Next time u at the valley or at the lot even look for a gold challenger, tell him his 440 ain’t beating a hemi . Let me know how that works for ya . It’s a stock block and crank with forged rods and pistons . The car is a single digit car and has destroyed many built hemis in stock form yes a hemi will beat a 440 but unformed and worked a little the 440 is a beast

well no shit but im talking stock for stock its not a challenge. my brothers built 340 will eat any stock hemi. hell my 318 will eat a stock hemi in the 1/4
