Comp Cams Billet Roller Keyway ~fugged~Repair?

I have a Comp Cams billet roller cam that got messed up when I blew an engine awhile ago. The engine seized and the cam tried to keep going. In the end I have a key way on the end of the cam (where the timing chain goes) that got mushed off to the side. Can Comp Cams (or anyone local) able to weld it up and re-machine it? IT was a $375 cam, Im hoping its repairable.

Thanks.

Try McQuillens. Carl can probably tell you if it can be fixed or if its worth trying to fix.

Id say you risk tweaking it some if its welded.

I wonder if they could just put a new keyway in it 180deg out?

Dan

probably not worth fixing at that cost. By the time you are done, you could be 1/2 way or more towards just getting a new one.

word.

that is a risky thing to “repair” nonetheless. something about valves hitting pistons gets me queezy

Can you post a pic. Ive fixed them before, pending how it is. Lots of miles differnt cars, and motors still going strong. Once the same grind your running right now.

Interesting idea. That may be the safest way, as long as you can line up the chain.

OH goodie!!! That would be awsome, and I never friggen thought of that idea! Good thinkin’. Now…lol I should email Comp Cams to see if they would do it. If its still expensive, maybe I’ll pass on it. BUT, it would be sweet to have two of these cams. I’m running the same one currently, and to have one for another engine for “backup” (because I’m hard on engines) or to do another swap.

I’ll take a pic tonight. its mushed a good .060" if I recall. The engine seized and the cam wanted to keep going.

…oops
