I purchased a Nikon S8100 for my wife form CompuDeals2u.com They had a great price that was too good to pass up.
They offered me an “upgraded” 5 hour battery and charger for $35. So I figure ok what the hell I’ll take it. Little did I know they would NOT be including the factory Lithium Ion battery but SUBSTITUTING it with a nicad battery that is larger.
I was under the assumption I’d be getting all the factory accessories plus the additional fast charger and extended life battery.

I called and they pretty much said I could have a Nikon battery for $45 plus shipping. So I said I paid to have a lessor battery!? They were like no yours is way better. I guess we are both idiots here.

No fucking way! I literally just cancelled an order from them earlier this week. Waited a few days and got no confirmation e-mail. Called and they said “Oh yeah we meant to call you, the item is no longer in stock.” Fucking morons, they never charged my card thankfully but I’m still really sketched out that they have that information. They tried offering me a different one at a lower price but I passed. Checked their website today and the camera is STILL LISTED at an even lower price…idiots! I searched online for some reviews of them and nearly every single one was a poor review and they stated exactly what happened to ultradriver, shitty batteries.
Stay away from camerapromo.com too, same situation. Cheap prices, sketchy service, and just shitty people to do business with overall. Sorry to hear your experience.
I purchased the Cannon SX40 camera on 12/02/2011 from allstatecamera.com which is the same company with a different name or so i’m guessing. I have the exact same battery story but i am still waiting on my camera to ship. What I want to know is if you ever got your camera or did you cancel the order? I am getting ready to call these morons for the fourth time since my initial order. I guess I also feel like an idiot.:bigtdown:
I ended up ordering from Unique Photo in NJ and they had my camera shipped over night for free! Their site clearly lists the lithium ion battery as being included, unlike these fucks who still have this camera listed even though it’s out of stock!
I called the company and they assured me that my camera would ship out today. I would give it a 10 percent chance that I will get my order by Christmas. What a joke. If I don’t get a tracking number by the end of the day I will have no choice but to try and cancel the order. This company is why some people are hesitant to order items online. I will stick with Amazon from now on. Thanks for the info
I ended up getting the camera but they also overcharged my CC by like $40! I’m canceling the entire order through my CC and they can work on settling this on their own.
I’m thinking I might be better off just canceling the order before it ships just to be safe. After it ships you are kind of screwed the way it sounds. By the way is that Michael Douglass in “Falling Down”? Great movie!
Agreed. Normally I can spot fishy websites, but both compudeals2u and camerapromo fooled me big time. This was the first time I’ve bought a camera online and didn’t think their prices were that out of this world to raise any flags. There’s an old saying though…
Exactly. I did google it and at the time there wasn’t much about compudeals. There were like two comments about them being out of a product, which I didn’t think was that bad. Their prices aren’t crazy enough to raise flag in my eyes either. Oh well Discover has canceled the entire payment on them.
www.adorama.com also has an eBay store where they sell cheaper then there website. bought a D5000 referb from them off eBay about a year ago and the camera is great. iv taken about 5000 shots with it. for a nikon refurb id never even know
