CONVERTED my Focus SVT into an RS!

Checko is correct, they are mk2 RS vents (functional)…future plans for the car will make use of them.

You should wrap them in CF to match the door trim. And do the side vents on the bumper CF as well!

Just what are the plans for the Focus? Are you gonna turbo the bish?

Oh, and I love that MK2. I haven’t seen one yet so I’m guessing they aren’t on US soil at all, are they?

My plans are to either:

A: finish the sideskirts, hood, lighting/wiring, and sell it

OR

B: obtain a 5spd Jaguar X-type donor car and convert the car to v6 AWD (then boost it) and transplant the SVT engine paired with the ford T5 trans I have in the caterham replica kit car I have started (and back-burnered long ago)

No model of the RS has ever been stateside. The mk2 was sold in mexico, albeit with limited availability. There are 3 mk2 RS’s in the US…one is a rich fellow with dual citizenship here and mexico, his is plated/reg’d in mexico but he drives it here as well. The second is Alan Mullaly, cheif of design on the global performance products division…the third is Ken Block…these two are on Factory plates from ford and technically not registered.

Gotcha. I’m hoping to see plan B in the future!

I hate our import/export laws. So many cars have been ruined this way. The 240sx and the pre-2002 Imprezas are the top 2 examples I always think of.

I think of the escort cosworth and the nissan pulsar GTiR

I’m hoping even though this is a year old you are still going this route. There is a fairly complete 2004 Jaguar X-type 2.5L 5 speed manual AWD in the Auburn Pick N Pull (http://www.picknpullofauburn.com/) near syracuse. Not sure how long it will be in there, as this was the first time I stopped there in a few years, but they are open today (and every day) til 4:30. May also be able to call them and have them keep the car in the yard if it is slated to be removed before you can make it. There is a pricelist on the website. Transmissions are $100+20core, Axles are $12.

VIN:

Stock Number (if you call)

Crappy pictures (some of the missing axle parts were in the car/trunk.):

good bump! lest see some winter AWD action!

Fuck. I wish I could. Bad timing.

In the event anyone cares… @checko, @pirite, and myself did another RS conversion for a guy in Pittsburgh over this past winter/spring. I delivered the car in April. He originally asked I not release the finished images, but has since been offered a job in another state and is going to list the car for sale.

Build thread he started where I picked up after he shipped me the car:

That said, we’re supposed to be getting another zx3 to do for a guy in Virginia sometime in January with a target completion of May…though this one will be FAR more involved, it’s getting one of 5 FR200 drivetrains that exist.

was this the one with the roof skin that needed to come off? it turned out great. i forgot how cool they look in widebody trim.

that thing looks amazing, good job

cool… tell us about the FR200 drivetrains… and when are you making an AWD one?

Excellent work.

indeed it is. What a Pain in the ass that was…good thing @pirite volunteered to drill all the spot welds hahaha.

Thanks man!

FR200 was a pre-rally car experimental drivetrain. only a handful were built. The engine was tilted differently and loaded up with some really crazy high end parts including a side mount turbo setup. They ended up folding the effort and some of the chassis that didn’t have drivetrains got stock ones and sold off. you can find some youtube videos and articles on the web if you search Focus FR200

I might never make an AWD one. I want to with this car, but I have found myself consider selling it.

Thanks Drew! Teach me to TIG I’ll teach you paintwork hahaha.

Fuck those spot welds. All 492028482019 of them.

I saw this and thought of this thread. https://buffalo.craigslist.org/cto/4828900712.html

Nice job guys!

Boooooooo

somewhat back from the dead. I have some further plans for the car, one of which is changing up the wheels.

who’s good with photoshop?

considering these two wheels in 18x8.5

without seeing them on the car, I think I like the 7spoke better than the 5.
