Looks great. Can’t wait to see more.
MOAR!
Popped it out of the mold today:
Trimmed it all up:
fitted the side marker:
it didn’t lay out as perfect as I had hoped, there’s some dead spots (air bubbles) along the lip of the wheel opening where the matt didn’t lay all the way flat up to the gel coat, so I’ll have to do some touch-up work with a little fiber reinforced body filler along the lip, but overall it didn’t come out too bad.
I put together the mold for the other side and just layed the gel coat, gotta go back out in about 35mins to start laying fiberglass.
I figure if I can get the other side trimmed up and ready tomorrow after work, then lay up one of the quarterpanels tomorrow, pop that out & trim tuesday and then lay up the other quarterpanel afterwards…by friday I can have a front clip on the car and start marking up the car for where to cut out the stock quarters on the rear.
stay tuned!
Awesome job
When’s my set going in the molds.
HELL YEA
if there’s even the slightest bit of seriousness in that, PM me and we can talk.
you could make some serious cash of this, get 10 sets done and sell them at an “introductory” price on a few forums. get some reviews and you’re set with extra cash flow.
looks good. ill be contacting you this winter to talk fiberglass. lol
that’s already the game plan. I have a wicked idea lol. going to run 2 -3 production runs as group-buys of 10. Farm out the labor to a local specialty shop (going to contact a shop that makes fiberglass racecar bodies recommended to me by Spam16v) and double their price. All I’ll have to do is drop off my molds, take half money up front as the deposit on the group buy(to pay the shop), and then when they are done charge the remainder as my profit…then ship. I figure after about 2-3 group-buys the market will start getting stale, so I’ve already planted a seed to sell the molds to Extreme Dimensions when I am done with them. As part of this ploy, I will not be running a group buy on the forum they sponsor so as to fly under the radar.
Sounds good man, I owe you a favor that’s for sure!
So I recieved a private message on one of the focus forums, someone following my build in the UK noted my lack of motivation and snapped these pics at a local RS Owners Club event and messaged me with them. This is the first I’ve seen of a red RS that wasn’t made digitally (photoshop or the like). I’m excited lol.
very nice… now try to stay focused!
I see what you did there
That does look pretty sweet.
It was in bold. If you missed it you would deserve to be smacked. You should really be putting a price on every part you custom mold through the process. Just post it in the build thread and you WILL make money.
Is this done yet?
ARE YOU KEEPING IT AWD??
Pulled the other fender out of the mold, will trim it tomorrow and then make up some filler for the areas that need touch-up on both fenders.
Front bumper cover next?
Miata fastback tops next? Please? Groupbuy.
Love that youre doing this.
it could be done. albeit not exactly cheaply…I COULD do it…I’m guessing you’re thinking something along the lines of the spoon hardtop available for S2000’s?

nope, although I have molds for the bumpers, I actually have the OEM bumpers hiding in my attic that I hoarded when the market was flooded by Ford Racing a few years ago. I patiently awaited an opportunity to get some OEM fenders and quarterpanels, but the molds became available first (which works out cause I was just gonna mold the sheetmetal parts to make replicas anyways hahahaha)
