Cost of sheetrock?

What is the cost of sheetrock locally is there recommended places besides HD and Lowes to get it.

Looking to replace the ceiling in my kitchen, the drop ceiling is trashed from toilet overflow and I hated it to begin with although there is a mix of lathe/plaster and sheetrock up there from what I can tell, that will be a mess.

Also wanted to rip out the knotty pine near the patio door in the dining room…

How many sheets do you need? Also, what size?

are all of those questions?

under $20 a sheet no matter what size.

You generally want 1/2" on ceilings.

Oh hey, I know of this great site: http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=26411-51801-26411&lpage=none

depot is cheaper … 4x8x1/2 is like $5.75 a sheet …

^^^ya, I think thats what i paid a few weeks ago. I also had no way to transport it, so I rented their truck which is only $20 for 45 mins, and $5 for every 15 mins past that. good deal IMO.

yea. the regular (non moisture blocking BS) 1/2" was ~7 last time I was there.

Go longer than 8’ and avoid extra seams.

you ever tried nailing a 8FT Sheetrock to the ceiling? You would know how hard that is…now try something bigger.

Sorry not sure on the exact measurements of the area now with drop but if my memory serves me right my room is 10x10 maybe 10x9… I was considering taking out the soffets too.

edit

Coworker mentioned Gui’s Lumber and he said they deliver. I think i will check them out, but my wife’s vehicle should be able to hold the drywall.

drywall screws FTW.

I felt bad for the guys when they were doing 16’ sheets on our ceiling. lol.

we had to use 16 footers when I was working on a Habitat house earlier this year. Even using a drywall lift(technical term, lol) it was a PITA! I couldn’t imagine manually puting up 16 footers

we have a vaulted ceiling
they had no lift
just two tier scaffold

lol

LOL I would have cut that bitch in half.

lol, I would have bailed on that job

It sounds like it will be less than $50.00 no matter where you go.
I just threw out about enough scrap to do your whole room.

Yes I have.

I would deal with that any day over having to tape and mud extra seams.
