I try to do this drive once a year at least (I70/I44/I40). The absolute solitude is humbling.
Thats what I took, then caught I-17 S, then hit the 101
I can still remember I-17 south of Flagstaff and north of Phoenix like it was yesterday. Sedona/Cottonwood was gorgeous.
