Has anyone ever built one of these cars? I always wondered what kind of numbers these cars can put out.
I saw this on the local GP forum…oh man. If I had money to blow, I’d own it. Bigger turbo, A/A IC, built trans…we hoo 13’s lol.
the 3.1 has quite a bit less potential when compared to similar engines. Like genIII 60* motors since the head design is so much more efficient.
Yeah, if I was to reeeeeally build it, I’d do a 3500 top swap or just swap in a 3500. I also hear 3400 with a 3500 top end is good too. I dunno. After seeing what the turbocharged 3800 is doing, its hard to consider a 3x00, unless you got deep pockets for tougher internals.
the make crazy torque. i know a guy that swapped the engine/harness into a 91 cutlass supreme attached to the getrag 5-speed of that era and it makes crazy torque and decent power. made a nice sleeper.

Yeah, because the car that saved the company and is better than the 914, the 924 (all models) and the 928 and a nearly rust free 240z (which is an icon in the japanese sports car world) are comparable to a piece of shit Turbo Grand Am. Get a clue.

Educate yourself about these cars. The have a pretty big intercooler from the factory and a built trans (designed to handle about 370TQ) from the factory. GM had their hands in very little of what was done to these cars. McLaren Engines did a lot of it with what they were given to work with.
