no. and i did 14.06@105.x so if i ran a 14.7 on that run it would be even higher… less traction = more mph… and that was on a 2.5 60ft… daves 12.4@114 is fine. its a 12second car with bad tires and a launch that is expected of someone learning to drive a car… that car has alot more in it with better tires and a better launch.
and that ATP manifold works just fine for so many years, so dont use that as an excuse… you arent at the levels where it matters, yes there is much to be desired about the ATP, but it works.
either way its a 12 second car with more in it. whats the problem… i think until you run better than him you shouldnt criticize him… put up or shut up.
i’ll do as i wish. i’ll never run a 12 sec pass so i don’t need to run a better time then him. i’ve known dave for quite a long time and knows how to take my critisism.
The argument was about trap speed was it not? I think Pete was trying to say that Howard’s tune may have given some good numbers, but the performance of the car is lacking. The 114mph trap is not what a 460whp car should be trapping, as Stallmer’s car as well as other cars in the ballpark of ~460whp.
stallmers car is a whole nother league, but yes joe, that zakly what i was aiming for, however, the car seemed to pull harder after the plugs and driver mod. well, he missed 3rd when we were out in it last time. so subtract the 2nd mod.
/agree - IRS makes it tough to get a good launch, but traps should still be high regardless of the ET.
On the topic of dynos, there was one time when I dynoed my car and it said it made 267whp. Then I proceeded to take my overweight slushbox on a special road, and spank a 480whp 300zx TT from a 40 roll. (the dyno would not read RPM off the axle correctly due to stall converter issues).
that comes down to power to weight, just like your car… 114mph is not typical of a 280hp car… but when that same 280hp is only moving 2300lb… it changes, like stallmers 400hp moving 2300 or so lbs vs the cobras 3500lb or so, or even more, im not sure… all is a rough estimate… ya kna mean?>
how about adams mustang for the sake of this arguement… all motor, 277whp… 11.80@112… on his spray he trapped 120… why because his car is pretty light for an SN95 and it has gobs of traction, a 4.10:1 gear and a high stall.
I’ll reply to both since it’s easier… My car made 278whp on a dyno that everyone seems to say reads low, meaning my realistic numbers may be higher, I’m not saying they are higher, but they could be with the variables of the dyno and whatnot. My car, as jdaniels said as well with his low dyno readings, has beat some cars you/I would NOT expect it to keep with or let alone pull on.
i know that and you know the number 1 factor is WEIGHT. if the car is a land yacht it will take more power and more torque to run times of a car with less power, but also less weight… whether or not the synapse dyno reads low is another basis of discussion, ray trapped 144 with 770-780whp at the time… where a car making 950hp is trapping 146(also a supra)
cars that run better and or make more power than yours… you rag on dave about his first time running the car, but when hes got the cobra out, your the first one to jump out for a ride in it…
