Deadmau5 @ Dragonfly, Wed 8/5/09. NOW WITH ESSENTIAL MIX!

First off, not sure if this should go in this forum or Off Topic…not entirely familiar with the new setup yet, sorry mods.

But, Deadmau5 is one of the biggest names to come out of Canada near us and is performing at Dragonfly in the Casino on August 5th. Not sure who’s opening for him, but should be a killer show.

I’ll post more details as i get them, but i figured i’d post this first so people can at least start planning on it.

Anyone who does not go to this should dead themselves. Deadmau5 is one of the best acts I have ever seen and his latest sets are on FIRE. I would fucking fly home and see this if it was on a weekend. :frowning:

I was planning on going to this… I’ll be in Miami though, so I’m looking for shows down there now.

And yes, people should not miss this. It’s about time we had a non-trance show around here

Seriously? Where have you been…we’ve had decent names here a few times a month, rarely hard trance.

I’ve been out of the loop this Summer so far (it’s been hectic).

I was, however, pissed that I missed Oliver and I got to see Kayu and Albert. :tif:

The gf’s a huggeee fan… I like him a lot too, ill probably be there.

He used to spin at Guv a lot right?

Kyau and Albert absolutely KILLED IT at pure. And Oliver’s been here twice already this summer and both times killed it as well. And yes, Deadmau5 is Toronto based i think. Brendan, add Factory Nightlife as a friend on facebook and/or Brian Nelson and You’ll never be outta the loop.

Down for the Mau5. :nerd:

oh wow, I REALLY want to go to this!

BUMP

Just got my tickets…bought them off a friend who can’t make it, paid $20/each.

Face is $25 each if you buy them ahead of time…and by buying them ahead of time, you can register on Dragonfly’s site for i forget what it’s called…but something that basically allows you to skip ahead of everybody else waiting in line to pay to get in, and just get to the front, have your ticket scanned/torn (whatever they do there) and get right in without waiting.

:fu: :fu: :fu:

Out of all the edm shows I have been to this year deadmau5 was my favorite. I am glad to see some good names coming around. What are the venues and crowds like in buff? My new haircut broskis abundant? Seating?

Edit- It is at the casino? Canadian?

Just about all the big names come to PURE aka previously Level…no seating, just bars and dance floor. They usually have a few local talents spinning in the front room that connects to the outdoor smoking patio, and the headliner in the main room…they remodeled somewhat, and invested in TONS of new stereo equipment to really make it sound great, i’m pretty impressed with the sound in there…and i say that having been to plenty of big clubs for plenty of the biggest names.

It’s grown a lot…in the past year we’ve had Cedric Gervais twice, Steve Aoki once and he’s coming back again, Kyau and Albert, Steve Porter, Marc Oliver twice, Behrouz, Starkillers, Will Bailey, Bad Boy Bill, Chus and Ceballos (in Rochester), Cam Maxwell, Jonathan Peters, Dirty Vegas, Junkie XL, DEKO-ZE, YM, Anthony Attalla, Carlo Lio, Second Sun…and probably more that i’m just too lazy to look up.

The best part…broski dude-bro’s can’t STAND this music…neither can thugs and d-bags. It’s mostly decent people, that wear clothes that fit, wear their hat straight (if they’re wearing a hat at all), do their hair the way THEY want to, and not the way the Gotti boys would want you to, and apologize when they bump into you (rather than starting a fight because they always have the right of way).

I use to HATE going to Level/Pure…i only dealt with it because it’s where most if not all of my closer friends liked to go, but now…i’ll go even if nobody else wants to because i know that the crowd this music attracts is a group of awesome people.

Some of my closer friends are the DJ’s that usually open locally for said big names, and also do the vast majority of the recruiting of big names/promoting, and from what i hear…the coming several months are full of several pretty big names, so you’ll have your chance to enjoy what Buffalo’s developed into in the EDM world.

AND…for those upset about not being able to see Deadmau5 here in a couple weeks…he’ll be playing in NYC at Electric Zoo…and event i’m REALLY hoping i can make it to.

In the lineup for THAT show with Deadmau5 are:

  • Armin Van Buren
  • Benny Benassi
  • Kaskade
  • Chus and Ceballos
  • Danny Tenaglia
  • Roger Sanchez
  • Luciano
  • Ben Watt (no relation…)
  • Busy P
  • Robbie Rivera
  • Francois K
  • Steve Aoki
  • Marco Carola
  • DJ Mehdi
  • Paco Osuna
  • Speedy J
  • Chris Lake
  • The Whip

It’s a 2 day show, $55 a day, or $100 for 2-day pass.

Can be purchased here:

I hate chipp strip SO MUCH but I am willing to give it a shot once. I hope it doesn’t drive me nuts and it sounds like it might not. That show in NYC will be the heat. Are you going to WMC this year by chance? I am planning on it as long as a few people will go. My one friend who lives there is in for sure.

I missed this last spring, but next spring i’m planning on it for sure. I have a few friends that live in Miami, and several that go to WMC every year. I won’t miss it again.

YES! He will be in Miami @ the Mansion while I’m down there.

wow so much love for the mau5. he is really not that good, there are so many better djs like steve porter coming to pure on aug 14(i believe). in the realm of the dj deadmau5 is not good at all, most of the time he uses ableton which beatmatches for you…

just he caught on and everyone is riding is stick

Thanks for your shitty opinion. Deadmau5 is a GREAT dj and I have seen most of the best the world has to offer thanks to a great scene where I have lived the last few years. You probably think trance is great too!

Deadmau5 FTW

I’ve seen steve porter…and he’s good, yes…but Deadmau5 is nothing to be looked down upon. And i think my opinion should count for something considering i’ve seen all the DJ’s locally i previously listed in a different post, as well as Tiesto, Armin van Buren, Ferry Corsten, Tall Paul, Above and Beyond, and Paul Van Dyk.
