Disk wave wave disk engine

The new engine is a “disk wave” chamber instead of a piston in a cylinder. The disk wave principle uses a novel internal system to generate shock waves by igniting a compressed air and fuel mixture that propels rotors. No valve gear, pistons, connecting rods or crankshaft.

At first I thought they were reversing a scroll compressor, which might be pretty cool. But here, it doesn’t look like the expanding gasses have anything to do work on, and if these shock waves are somehow moving the vanes along without gasses expanding, how long until they fail? If it fires on every chamber, the vanes will be stressed in reversing directions on every hit; the aft vane sees a force counter clockwise when the chamber ahead is detonated, then the chamber immediately behind it blows it clockwise again lol. Lastly, it relies on a compressed fuel air mix - I bet it takes nearly as much energy to compress the fuel air mix as it can actually generate.

That is freaking sweet. Kind of reminds me of a scramjet mixed with a Wankel.
