Ok, I’m going to keep this short and sweet. When I saw that Doom the movie was going into production I was psyched and horrified at the same time. Well… that’s how I felt the entire time watching the flick (more so, the later of the two).
Its cool how they throw in random background scenery you can identify from the original games, and the new one alike (remember the “key” doors from the originals? You know the colored pillars on each side? See: “Huge Nerd Corner” Located above if still confused). The Level… errrr… Set design in itself looked pretty cool as well. Unfortunately neither the plot, nor the acting was very cool though. As a matter of fact, it was pretty awful.
Now, I enjoy most movies… even ones people say are stupid as I am a movie conesur but this I actually had to turn off for Judge Judy (I know, very sad) and later continued watching after the verdict was made that Mr. Jackson owes Suzie 1400.00 and 2 pairs of shoes she left at his house, but that’s neither here nor there.
Granted, I was watching a “secret version” (and a very bad one at that) but it just didn’t float my boat. Cheesy dialog and corny jokes are abundant. Special effects definitely lacked big-time… cool looking CG, but totally out of place and don’t even get me started on the final “first person” scene. It was a good idea, but not well done… at least it’s better than the random game screen shot special effects from the even worse video game spin-off movie, house of the dead shudder
I guess it’s worth checking out if your into wasting money and such (or your in the mood for a good comedy) but otherwise, wait for it to come out on DVD.
doom sucks becuase it wasnt doom… the plot was all dif and nothing was the same besides the set. waste of time and money to watch a movie about a game when it doesnt even fallow the game. and the first person part was horrible and looked like a 2 year old did it
