Just weld the posi in the stock rearend. Thats what I did and its working great. Low 1.4s with the 6speed, stock suspension

hoping for 1.6 short times will not explode any 8.8. i went consistent 1.4s with a stock 8.8 with only 3:55 gears for like 3 years.
stock axles, stock c clips, stock stock stock.

i have to disagree with mike - by the way u ( karter ) are talking u will never see more power than an 8.8 will handle. they go into the 8s at over 150. as far as im concerned if u have a 9 inch in your car, u better be doing over 160 trap otherwise your a sucker and have money to burn.

why are u trying to be snky about the car u are building? youll learn, if your really building a sweet ride, you will wanna show the world. make the build go more smooth and keeps you more intrested.

I’m being snky because it generates anticipation, and when plans change or go south i dont have to hear about it.
The plan is to compete in nhra sanctioned events in the future, and the book requires the parts im trying to instal.
You would be the man to know if I’m going to break it tho, because your car hauls ass

tone it down tone in here guys or JK will report the posts and tell me to do my job…

Just Karter, anything else in here i missed?

yeah you forgot to delete the thread and ban me

31 spline diff out of an explorer or expedition, put new clutches in it for $50 from Ford with the “one extra clutch” trick, a set of Moser/Strange 31 spline axles, and you will run a 9.00 before you break the rear end. The 8.8 is one of the simplest and cheapest rearends to build.

c-clip eliminators involve cutting off the end of the tubes to put on the eliminators. If you want to do that, if it was me I would just weld-on 9 inch ends instead.

No, they don’t. The C-clip eliminators are pressed on the axles and then you just bolt them onto the 8.8 flange. No need to cut the rear end. Get the parts, have someone press them on the axles, then bolt them into the housing… DONE. 8.8’s are strong. Plenty of mustangs running 8’s with no problems. If you are cutting the rear end to shorten it, then go ahead and get the 9" ends. Karter, if you need advice on what to do or who to do it, PM me, I can point you in the right direction.

Edit: I also have some 31 spline parts that you might be interested in.

:word:

rebuild a simple 8.8, its all your gonna need.

‘when plans fall through’ also not a postivie way of speaking… this ‘build’ doesnt seem promising
