The 80,000-ton building with 200 apartments will sit on a giant bearing 30 yards in diameter, coated with a nearly frictionless polymer, Cooper said. Twenty small electric engines will turn the building a few degrees each hour, Cooper said.
i can’t imagine you guys getting very dizzy from this…from the sounds of it, it does a full rotation after 2.5 days. If you get dizzy from that, you’re an all out pansy
EDIT:
i’m more curious as to how the plumbing and electrical will work considering it only has a central axis to spin on.
Watched a show on Dubai once. They predict they will run out of oil by 2016 so they are counting on tourism to be their main economy.A buddy of mine wanted me to buy land over there a few yrs back as I guess it is skyrocketing. No thanks

The tower, announced Wednesday, will use the Persian Gulf’s abundant sunshine to power the building’s slow rotation that brings it full circle once a week, said Nick Cooper, a British engineer designing the rotation mechanism.
either way, you if you are dizzy from eating at a rotating restaurant, it’s because you are sitting in one postion for a couple hours and they rotate quite a bit faster.
They’ve already one-up’d themselves. The new one is called “The World”. Multiple man made islands layed out as, well… The World. Schumi was already given an island by the Prince of Dubai as a retirement gift… a $7 million dollar gift  http://www.theworld.ae/
