Anyone every play with the Arduino products? They seem to be a good starting platform since they come bundled with the board, micro controller, etc. and also seems to be a relatively easy programming structure.
One of my co-workers tinkers with these things. He does all sorts of wacky shit around his house, like temperature monitoring and stuff like that. He thinks it’s the best thing since sliced bread and he is not an Engineer. He has a physics degree and is a DBA/Sys Admin by trade. The programming is definitely not difficult at all.
Ya its wild. Simple methods to read the analog/digital sensors and so much ability. Someone made a GPS unit in 30 minutes. Seems like could be a fun side project.
