Extended Warranty: yes or no?

So I pick up the '08 Ninja in a month or so. It comes with a one year warranty, but I can make that a six year warranty for another $560.

I don’t know if I should get this or not. I will likely trade in the bike in a season, maybe two. So although I wouldn’t be the one benefiting from these extra five years under warranty, the dealer points out that it would look great to potential buyers when I go to sell the bike. The warranty would likely pay for itself if used, and on a starter/beginner bike like the 250, I suppose it’s likely to get used sooner or later (but hopefully not by me!).

Should I go for it or not? For those of you who’ve purchased used bikes, how important is it to you that the bike was under warranty?

I could swing the cost of the extended warranty, but would prefer to save myself the money if it would be a waste.

Thoughts?

what does that warranty cover?
it may or may not be much of an incentive for a potential buyer depending on that.

Is there a limit on what the warranty covers? Or millage limits? Also a big big thing is, is the warranty offered by that dealer or is it by the maker of the bike its self. Either way you personally will not get your money worth from the warranty and I seriously doubt you will get an extra 560 bucks for the bike when you go to sell it because you have an extended warranty. I wonder how much could go wrong on a bike before the repair bill got over 500 bucks, seems like it would have to be something major there really isn’t all that much to a bike and what is there is rather easy to access.

The guy at the dealer is only saying to buy an extended warranty because it puts more money in his pocket. I probably wouldn’t waste the cash on the warranty. Keep a good record of all your maintenance when you get it done, that’s enough to show your bike is legit when you go to sell it.

yea i say NO to the extended warranty… I say no to extended warranties on everything lol for the reasons said above

DO NOT DO IT
