Eh when I was car shopping a couple months ago the difference between a 1/2 ton silverado and a colarado was around a grand. This wasn’t for a stripper model of either, they were just much more willing or able to work a deal on a silverado.
LOL! I miss it there too! Good buy! I also have been looking at mini trucks. I really want a Tacoma, but they hold their value extremely well. I had a stick shift explorer a few years back and it was alright. I eeked 24 MPG out of it with the old OHV 4.0. The OHC has much more power. You pretty much aren’t going to find a more ideal ranger. Maybe an FX4 level II, but good luck finding one of those.
Gary is a good guy. He has a couple 350Zs. He reminds me of Dan Akroyd
The biggest reason I’d prefer a small truck is it’s size. I’d hate trying to find a parking for a full size everywhere I go. Maneuvering a full size is a PITA. Plus, you can still get a Tacoma 4x4 with a 4 cyl. I don’t need much more in a truck.
The F150 was a far better truck. I love that engine. UPS and airlines used them for a reason.
Good color on the new truck.
I find driving a full size truck isn’t any more of a chore than driving a car, but to each his own. You can’t argue a full size truck isn’t more useful than their smaller counterparts and while you may not utilize those features I probably will. Either way the issue I have is that the smaller trucks are to expensive for what you get.
^A very valid point. After having the Ranger for a short while now I find it more fun to drive. I think it is the power boost from what the F-150 I had. The MPG is pretty comparible. I will let you know what it is on average after I accrue a few more miles on it.
First hauling experience was my brand new 195 HP (4.9 SCFM @ 90 PSI) Craftsman 33 Gallon compressor that was on sale this week with an 1/2 inch Impact and 3/8 Ratchet combo for like 130. It is MY first compressor purchase so I had to start somewhere. Craftsman does have some good stuff from time to time so I will see how this one holds up. It should be pretty good for what I need it for.
Thanks for all the comments guys.
+1, with first hand experience.
Of course, 2 days later I was replacing a busted rear leaf spring.
Other than that the 3years/36k miles I put on my 98 Ranger XLT 4.0 required zero service, and I can’t fault Ford for a leaf spring that failed when grossly overloaded. That Ranger towed my 3500 lb boat as well or better than my 5.4 v8 Expedition.
