I am gettin ready for school and such and im commuting to allegheny airport. I need a truck to haul all my tools and such and need something to get me their in the winter. I also just got a 88GT mustang that i am going to start trailering up to the track… And i will be using the towing for other such things also…First will the ranger tow the trailer and car? Second question is in your guys opinion. Which would be the better buy the prices are about the same with the same options and the F250(powerstroke) i think only has about 20k more miles on it making it around 20-50k and the ranger has 32k on it.

My perants had an 04 ranger. It got worse gas milage then their old 99 F150.
So i would go with the F250
The guy that bought my SHO towed it from west mifflin to kittanning with a chain through a driveshaft and a ~1990 ranger. It can be done.

you need a fullsize to haul a car safely and reasonably. thats it. ^
fullsize is the way to go, but i’m sure you could build up an s-10 or ranger to tow. i’d say it’d need much stronger rear leaf springs, v-8 + strong trans, bigger brakes, etc… still better to go with the full size.
You ever think about something like a grand cherokee or some other suv. My owners manual said that i can tow a car only as long as it has trailer brakes. im not saying that im going to cross country tow with it but i will tow my z to beaver run or home from where ever it decides to break down.

I have an 05 4.0 SOHC 4x4 5spd ranger with 4.10’s and i towed a neon on a 24 foot flat bed. It can be done if you need to without any problems but if you’re going to be towing frequently i would get a full size. I only towed that because i had to. Normally it’s just used to tow my v-hull fishin boat or my brothers pontoon. Like i said, it will do it, but don’t expect and to get up and go like no bodies business.
