The Volkswagen Cabrio my girlfriend bought a couple months ago is up for sale.
The story goes like this:
A couple months ago Corinne bought the Cabrio to enjoy top down summer driving. Then a couple weeks ago we bought a non-molested 1990 Mazda Miata in great shape. Now we have 5 cars (3 of which are convertibles and 1 compact) and not enough room to store them and not enough room in them for what we need to haul. None of these cars are great for trips to Lowe’s or Ikea as we found out this weekend lol. Now she is on the hunt for a small SUV for which her Mazda2 will be traded in for. The newly acquired Miata will be kept and prepped for some autocross and back road carving. So basically the Cabrio needs to go and hopefully to a local VW enthusiast who can love it and give it some TLC.
The car sits as it does when she bought it.

Front bumper was repainted by previous owner to remove license plate holes; has small bracket under right front signal for plate.

The good :
Car runs and drives very nicely. Mechanically sound. Oil was changed and alignment was done before we picked it up. Suspension setup does not ride harsh at all and can go waaay lower. Very impressive driving. Top is in great shape, just motor was bypassed by previous owner. Body is in great condition. Rear tires have plenty of life. Transmission and clutch operate with no concerns.
Minor things that can be easily fixed by a VW lover:
Cruise control doesn’t work (Ive read it could just be the stalk). Small surface rust on trunk lid above license plate. Minor issues with interior from swap. Seat takes a second to lock in. Right side headlight low beam isn’t as bright as the left one. Headlights could use a buff/polish. Exhaust heat shield rattle at certain RPM. Needs a cabin filter. Front tires passed inspection but don’t have much life left at all. Just needs some minor VW love.
CarFax was run before purchased. No accidents and very well maintained. Pretty much all that paperwork even back to original owner is in the glove box.
Overall the car is in great shape and deserves a good home. I would not hesitate to drive it anywhere. Corinne drove it 7.5 hours from Delaware a month ago. I had it inspected a week ago. No CEL or issues.
Asking $5500 OBO. We are open to reasonable offers. Car needs to be gone sooner rather than later to help with purchase of small SUV.
Will come with what is supposedly a rare manifold with the VW logo on it (Something a VW lover might know more about) and a short shift plate.
