I guess it was cheaper to hire a bunch of lawyers to kneecap small parts manufacturers than issuing another round of 10% corporate junk bonds to raise capital… :ugh:
It’s not only Ford that’s been up to this crap. VW has been after anybody using Beetle or Bug in their business name and they even go after people who have carictures or pictues of their VW cars in their advertising. Supposedly they are tired of people spending money on old VWs that don’t bring in any cash to Volkswagons bottom line. Also, BMW went after all the old school Mini parts and restoration companies when they brought the new MINI brand to the US which I think was successfully fought in court because of the difference in Mini and MINI and the long period of inactivity that the brand had here in America.
Honda is also pulling this crap and is actively going after people who import “unauthorized” Honda/Acura models and diecast cars. Apparently just because a company got permission from Honda to sell something in Japan doesn’t mean that you or I can legally buy them from an Ebay seller who ships them to us here in the US. That also means that you can’t buy something from somebody in another country and resell it here in the USA without paying an additional licensing fee.
WTF? It’s like all these companies don’t want people to be fans of their cars or keep them on the road once they get old and parts are no longer sold through dealerships. Fight back by buying an old car, fixing it up and driving it around and enjoying it. You can also thumb them in the eye by not buying a new car if you have a choice. Just MHO.
FOMOCO didnt lose it. They never had it. kthx.
Harley Davidson did this a few years back. Everyone was making parts and shirts using HD logo. They cracked down on this. I am not surprised but still sucks either way.

Geez, maybe I’ll get a letter because I put Type-R stickers on my Firebird.
