Took the blue vette to PRP last weekend, everything seemed fine… but noticed the pass. side bank poppin almost like a miss. Revved up fine, didnt get hot or anything, so I ran it.
Maiden voyage, 10.73 @ 125… foot braked it and short shifted it. Noticed it breaking up a little after the 2-3 shift. 2nd pass… was breaking up worse, so just shut it off.
Brought it back, pulled valve covers and found 2 of these:
rockers just spit the roller bearings all over the place! Some of the others were loose as well. Anyone ever see this kinda failure? This is a 482ci, 800 lift cam, mag. pushrods, double wound race springs, etc.
Ended up buying wide body race crane rockers for like 445$
Can you buy individual rockers? I have good ones left, would work for a street car…
Wow, that sucks, i have found that the sharp rockers have very narrown needle bearings in the fulcrum, I killed a set on my big block just street running it with 280lbs on the spring seat… I went to a set of crower S/S and am very happy…
