my fireplace opening is 73x85 so ill just jam up a fake “header” as I already have one from the hole that is known as the fireplace

The only bad thing is that people that don’t know my house Always grab the wrong door to open. (The other one won’t open unless the first door is opened.)
That and they were f’ed up from the Pella factory and are now being replaced 5 years later. In all fairness they would have been replaced sooner but I was dragging my feet. When it got to the point where it was snowing inside the crack I finally got motivated. lol
Other than that, they are great for letting in light.

I have the same ones from HD, they have the blinds built inside. i got them as a last pair for $229 three years ago and they have been great. No problems at all.

I’ve had Pella french doors since my house was built in 1994. I’ve never had any problems with them. The blinds inside the panes of glass are awesome. Being able to open both doors is great for getting large things inside the house too. I also have screens on them.

If you are going to buy a French door, don’t cheap out.

I replaced our french door that leads from my dining room to the patio with a slider. I hated how the door was constantly in the way when it was open, plus it was what they call a single french door so it only opened on one side anyway.

You could do a “sliding french” door if you are concerned about it being intrusive to the room and the design pressure of this slider is higher than a hinged door if you are in a difficult weather area:
