THIS IS A REAL 442, NOT A CLONE!!!
I’m selling my 69 olds, it’s from PA originally, and is a true 442. I’m going to try to be as thorough as possible, and include all the information I know, if you have questions please ask.
We bought this car as an non-running, primered, no interior, steelies project car in Carlisle PA at fall carlisle if I remember correctly.
Interior:
The carpet and headliner were both brand new from YearOne, as well as the rear parcel shelf thing. The dash has one crack on the top passenger side, about 2" long. The door panels are in good shape, the passenger one is starting to curl a little bit at the bottom. All windows roll down properly, the original radio is there, and non-working. Speedo works, as well as gas gauge. I think the 3rd gauge is a clock, which doesn’t work. No rips or tears in the front buckets.
Exterior:
There are 2 spots of bondo, one on the rear quarter panel (only noticed because I walked around the car tapping with my knuckles), and another spot on the very front of the passenger fender. There is one barely noticable dent along the trunk line. Above and behind the driver door is a spot where the paint is peeling. Other than those 2 spots, the body is near perfect and rust free! The paint is blue and 4 years old, and it needs to be stripped and painted again. The painter put in too much hardener and it all cracked.
Motor/Rear End:
We aren’t 100% sure this motor is original, but we do know it’s from a 1969 olds 442. It’s a big block 400. It is currently out of the car because we rebuilt it. New hastings rings, clevite 77 bearings, timing chain, fel pro gasket set, oil pump gear drive thing, and valve seals. I lapped the valves when I did the seals. The tranny is a th400 auto tranny, that has a brand new shift kit in the box. It shifted fine when I drove the car. The rear end is a 12 bolt posi unit, and if memory serves me, it’s got 3.55 gears.
What the Car Needs:
-The bolts that the lug nuts spin on to.
-Brake lines are more than likely set-up or rusted.
-Dipstick holder thing broke off when my Dad took the head off.
-Exhaust from the headers back.
Brand New Items(Not Installed):
-Edelbrock Performer Intake Manifold.
-Headers, forgot the brand, from auto zone.
-Shift Kit.
-Motor Mounts.
I did have the car on the road, it did pass inspection and I put a few hundred miles on it. It was an absolute blast to drive, total head turner and comments everywhere I went. All the little stuff was replaced for inspection…lights, wiper motor, brake cylinders, etc. etc. All this thing needs is the motor dropped in and fire it up. It even has some nifty rear shocks that you can raise or lower the car with compressed air.
On with the pics.
