How do these things go through clutches so fast? That’s rediculous. I’d be really pissed. I had 160k on the original clutch in my old BMW, have 112k on the original clutch in my ///M now, both with no signs of starting to slip or anything.
Thanks again for all the replies guys, it means a lot to hear such positive comments. There has been some out of state intrest, but I don’t really intend on taking them seriously for now. I’m sure eventually I’ll find a buyer, hopefully someone local that will appreciate the car! I have to sell it by the beginning of January, so in a couple weeks I’ll be entertaining some interesting lowballs I’m sure.
you obvioulsy haven’t, and with that, i don’t really know what more needs to be said
the only people who have driven my car are: Howie, Josh ( Lafengas ), Rick ( rx3 ) and Joe ( 91mr2 )… oh, and my mom wanted to see what it was like to drive it. if you knew those people, i doubt you’d think it was a problem
thanks karl, you cinnabon homo ( when are we going btw? ) What you say is true tho, and it’s not like the clutches are crap, exedy makes them
there are obviously infinite reasons why the stock clutches go in evos, but two of them which help me state my case are the following. first, the original owners are launching the car frequently… it’s fun obvioulsly, especially in an AWD… and furthermore the 4g63 makes gobs of power with basic bolt-ons, so cars are pushing 350whp easy… everyone should know this is going to wear the clutch down faster than the stock 240/50 whp. most evos for sale have been modded to piss by the owner. sure it may say stock, but that’s just because the owner parted it out before hand
the previous owner didn’t beat on the car or mod it to shit through the 27k he drove it, and i think its safe to say the clutch is proof:shrug:
edit: and choda, yea that wheel is scuffed up. when you have an 2.5rs merge into you on the 33, it happens
The stock clutch on the Evo is “soft” so that it gets eaten instead of the rest of the driveline. Mitsu didn’t want to be warranty-ing transfer cases and trannys when every kid comes in after launching at 5-7k. Most people who experienced transfer case and transmission issues did so after changing to a much stiffer clutch. 37k may not seem like a lot in general, but it is for an evo making more than stock power levels.
