Yep. Can’t forget that this county/state suck with our sales tax. 8.75% is huge when you’re buying a 25k car, so if your trade in is of decent value a lot of times you’re better off doing the trade than selling it outright for a couple thousand more.
Simple example:
25k car = $2187.50 in NYS sales tax.
25k car in a state with a reasonable 4% sales tax = $1000.00
So for the pleasure of living in this state with it’s liberal medicaid and welfare programs, union controlled representatives, and districting that guarantees the incumbent will always be re-elected you get to pay an additional $1187.50 on your car.
Sorry for turning this political, but these are real world examples people need to think about when they are thinking about voting, not that any will probably vote in tomorrow’s primary anyway.
are you really buying a huge ram pickup? do you know how sick of it you’ll be of driving after maybe 2-3 months? from what i remember you’ve had some nicer cars, don’t get me wrong the truck is nice too, but it’s not a car…
to tell you the truth… i wont be… im not into speed as much as…blowing donuts…smoking tires ect. plus, i race moto-x and snocross…need a truck… i already have speed covered with the sleds and bikes…
dont get me wrong the gti is amazing i love the car,but it wont fit a snowmobile in the back of it.
btw…ive seens a few diesel trucks running 11 sec 1/4miles…
agian… i get rid of cars fast as you can see,but ehh…as of right now, i need a truck.
I take it you’re not buying a 25k vehicle then? Because I already showed you how dumb it is to sell an expensive car privately and buy another expensive car because of the tax issue.
Well if he sells it for 20K he has to pay taxes on that portion when he buys a new car. So the dealer must be offering you lower than 18K for the car or it would be dumb to sell it your self figuring 1,750 in taxes.
