This car is my step-dad’s and he’s owned it since new in '97. He’s from Toronto, so the car is a Canadian GS-R (millage in KM, etc.)
It needs break lines and has the usual Honda rot (hood is starting to go) and I think there is an electrical gremlin with an after market alarm that was installed back in '97 from the dealer.
Now since they don’t have titles in Canada, the state wanted a shit load of money to get a NY title made up… and he really doesn’t care that much. So if you want to buy it, you can’t just register it like a normal car. If anyone knows a loop-hole, I’ll hear it but we’d rather just sell the thing and have someone else go about the BS to title it in NY. Or, if you’re looking for a parts car…
He’s kept meticulous care of the car - every maintenance item has been seen to over the years. It just now, with the rust pissing him off, the brake lines leaking a bit, etc. He just doesn’t feel like putting anymore money into it. After all, it does have 140k Miles on it.
Comes with 2 sets of wheels - the ones in the picture have summer tires on them, but there is also another set of wheels with winter tires on them. And no, I won’t sell the wheels / tires separate from the car.
It’s not on the top of the hood, rather under around where the latch is. The car had a Bra on the front of it for most of its life. I’ll get pics of that later when I’ve got more time.
to bring it over all you need is those 2 letters (that its free of recalls and free of compliance) and a mph speedo (you can put it in yourself, or just say “yea its in” and hope to get away with it). show that when you cross the border, they give you the documentation, and you’re gold.
I dunno, lol. He went to the DMV with what he had and turned in his Canadian papers and they gave him NY stuff. The woman at the DMV said “They do it all the time.” :gotme:
