I’ll be pulling my QTP downpipe out of my evo this weekend so i might as well post it up now. The pipe has less than 10k miles on it, no winters. Still functions fine. If anyone wants to hear this on my car before i pull it, we can arrange something tomorrow or friday. Pics once it’s out.
I will also take partial trades on other aftermarket downpipes, as long as they will clear the ACD.
As far as cutouts go, they’re not bad pieces. The problem with them is you would have to tune with it open, which wouldn’t make it ideal for when it’s closed unless you have a map switch to go back and fourth. As far as the motors on the butterfly valve itself go, some people have had bad luck with them, and some people have been fine. If you’re careful about opening/closing it (don’t try to close it at 4000rpm) and also don’t engage the switch for longer than necessary, you can get a much better lifespan out of the motor.
There are plenty of threads on EvoM regarding this pipe if you want to do some reading. Flat out saying the pipe is complete trash in the sale thread wasn’t really necessary, I didn’t make any false or subjective claims in the description.
u realize u will probably see 5-10hp from this… why not run a full exhaust. ull see the MOST benefit from running the EPM open dump. but beware of letting the wastegate open on the streets, cops will hear u coming
i ran one for a couple years and loved it… 3 v-band DP with a QTP cut out, reduced down to a stock catback. quiet when you want it to be, full 3" all business with it open.
Id like to know how many of you guys that talk shit about them have actually run one. I never had a problem with mine and had used it for over 4k miles.
