This is the old, MUCH BETTER QUALITY style of WRT54g. Tough to find, way better build and infinitely more customizable than the new ones. I have the same one that works great without the reliability problems of friend’s new WRT54g routers that are the cheapo ones.
As for the card, yeah, it just plugs into a PCI slot. Easy to do. Hell, if you pick it up and bring your computer by, I can install it for you. After it’s installed, you might have to install drivers (included on a disk if you need them) or it will just automatically be detected and work.
