While all signs point to yes, what’s a lawyer going to argue. “My client was simply carrying items that he wanted to purchase in the bag until he got to the register”. We all know what the intentions are but the way society works is a different story.
When I worked retail back in college this is why we were told just to call loss management if we saw someone putting something in a bag or under their shirt or what ever. Loss management wouldn’t do anything until they tried to walk out the door with it.

As someone who once had room mates… that shit IS super annoying.
I used to keep track of how long it would take for certain things to happen with my college roommates every once in a while. Like dishes, replacing TP, taking out garbage, etc. More often than not, I would get so annoyed and/or disgusted that I would do it myself.
I don’t have roommates and it’s still super annoying.
