G body officiandos

Is the 87/88 Pontiac Gran Prix a G body? :dunno:

yes, 88 was the only year the regal wasnt produced as a gbody all others were gbodys in 88, late 88 early 89 is when the fwd models started

Thanks . . .

87 was 88 isn’t a simple google search will give you the answer.

87 is 88 isn’t, try google next time it’s amazing the info you’ll find… :bigthumb:

Google says:

  • Includes variant options (SS, CL, LS, Supreme, W30, Grand National, WE4, GNX, 2+2, etc…)

Buick Regal 1978-1987

Chevrolet Monte Carlo 1978-1988, El Camino 1978-1987, Malibu 1978-1981

Oldsmobile Cutlass 1978-1988

Pontiac Grand Prix 1978-1987

But I thought Malibu’s were A body’s ?

I’ll wait for Cutty’s input…

I know someone selling an 88 Pontiac GP that he swears is a RWD G body. It’s a good deal, but I wanted to make sure a GN rear end would fit. :scared:

i just did the image search. and looked at the body style.

Malibus are G-Body’s

malibus, are g-bodys, also I think cutty, has brought some attention to the fact the old bonnieville is on a g-body frame also the newer auroa is on a g-body frame, Im sure it has some redesigns, but still considered a g-body.

the frame that was used as the g-body in the 80’s is the same frame that was the A body 78-81. in 1982 the new FWD (ciera, century, etc)were now classified as a-bodys and the old a body became the G-body. the sheetmetal changed in 81 but the classification did;t change till 82. there was never an 88 g-body GP, can’t say for sure on the bonneville thou. all 88 cutlass and monte’s were made before or in december of 87. infact the last g-body to roll off the “g” car plant in pontiac, MI was an 87 GN. the cutlass supreme classic was replaced mid year by the FWD supreme.

the newer aurora is not on a G body frame but is classified as a g-body. its just a designation, the Riv is the same classification as the aurora.

a/g bodies go like this: 78-88 cutlass supreme 2 & 4 door. the 78-87 regal/gn/ttype and 4 door models, the 4 door century 78-81, 78-80 cutlass salon, 78-80 la mans, 78-80 grand am, 78-87 grand prix, el camino and GMC callabro, 78-88 monte carlo, 78 and up malibu and 82-87 bonneville. i think thats pretty accurate give or take the years of the 4 door models.

most people thou go with cutlass/regal/monte/grand prix as a g-body.

ya I could have swore you told me that ur white bonnie was one back in the rock swamp,LOL!

ya there was a time i was gonna drop a gn set up in the bonny but the rear frame rails needed replaced.
