G8 to live on as a... (update j/k)

Hmm…

I agree,Buick for the SBW, Then they could use the long WB version as the next DTS.

look what I stumbled across:

Chevy Lumina SS named Middle East’s “Sports Saloon of the Year”
“The Lumina SS, as you’re well aware by now, is simply a rebadged Holden Commodore SS, the same way that the forthcoming Pontiac G8 GT is”
No wonders GM found itself in this rough patch, all the good stuff was overseas teasing us…North American made zeta Camaro, maybe they really are starting to change.

For the record…Lumina doesn’t really scream out V8 performance for me at all…

Glad they are keeping the platform, but not liking the Chevy front end on it.

hmm i would possibly rock one

Looks soo much better with-out the nostrils on the hood.

lol @ lumina. way to “bring back” the nostalga of a pile. what’s next, re-badging a holden as a corsica? lol

I wish they would get rid of the pile of shit Chevy names like Caprice and Lumina.
They have a long reputation of being piles of shit and its a shame that the Holden will get that stigma.

I just heard from a retired GM employee that it was gonna be rebagded as a Buick…

Either way

Henderson is a buzz-kill

“We’ve been looking at it for police applications. As for whether or not it’s broader than police applications, I am not a believer in re-branding and re-badging. We’ve been talking about in terms of potential police applications and we’ll leave it at that.”

Henderson also threw a soaking wet blanket on the idea of adding production to Oshawa alongside the Camaro, saying that the cars will continue to be sourced from Australia. So, for the moment, it looks like Zeta sedan fans will probably have to be content with taking a Blues Brothers approach to the problem: Buying their next car as a decommissioned black-and-white.

Also how can he say: “I am not a believer in re-branding and re-badging”

GM’s whole truck line up is rebadged/reskinned
Sierra - Silverado
Yukon - Escalade
Traverse - Acadia - Enclave
etc

But even if he says thats the old GM then explain these 4 new mid sid SUV’s

LOL

The Caprice was never a “…pile of shit…” the Lumina maybe, but the Caprice was a great car in it’s day, was very reliable, and served it’s purpose very well. I have no problem with it coming back as a Caprice, but also would rather it come back under a new name.

ya know its one thing to rebadge a cobalt as a G5, but totally different to rebadge a car from Australia that isn’t even sold here.

Maybe they should have just been sold off fire sale style during bankruptcy with talk like that.

At least the old SRX was on a “cadillacs” platform.

And whats wrong with rebadging when the cars are at least somewhat unique to one another. Rebadging in my mind is what going on with the Esclade/Tahoe etc or those minivans they had that were all the same except for the pontiac having a split grill lol

The G8 will not be a Caprice after all. I’d mentioned it, and said we were studying it, giving it a serious look, because a car like the G8 was just too good to waste.

That’s all still true. But I have to say that, with my new “marketing” hat on, upon further review and careful study, we simply cannot make a business case for such a program. Not in today’s market, in this economy, and with fuel regulations what they are and will be.

Looks like Henderson had a talk with him

Is Henderson MOBOOST4U’s dad or something?

The Impala was the luxury caprice, while the caprice was the middle management biscayne, while the biscaye was meant for the blue collar worker…

The caprice does have a decent amount of history behind it.

I like the G8. I think it had body lines like an IS300, which I own and like. Damn! GM is offing all of the decent cars…

yep, losing faith.

Bump just parked next to the new Caprice last night in GM’s garage.
Think Cruze design just bigger with dual exhaust. Pictures on my other camera.

Well stop teasing and post them.

Any word on weather they will have the “SS” model with a LS vette engine
