GM bankrupt!!???

Seriously…

We have established 5416654561 times by now that GM somewhat got their build quality together but it is already too late. This is a management issue.

Hell, I hate American cars but id consider buying a cobalt as a DD (if I was in the market) if they were priced like they should be.

I assume news has gotten out that late last night a bailout budget was passed for the big 3, $14 billion to start.

actually, I believe it’s only GM and Dodge… Ford has enough to cover their costs for now

In the House, not the Senate. They’re not getting anything yet.

^Is that why they are trying to sue that online forum for having the name “Ranger” in it?

They are going to get the money. Our represenatives are just showboating trying to make it look like they are in our corner. It is a bunch of crap, they were getting the money from day one.

true

speaking of which, I find it really sad that they bailed these banks out, pretty much over night without so much as a second thought, yet give (or claim to) the auto companies a hard time. Especially since the banks fucked a shit load more people over than the auto industry ever has. Why aren’t we prosecuting these people? (our government officials AND the corporate jagoffs on wallstreet)

I wonder why that is :tinfoilhat:

Steve you agreed with me and put a tinfoil hat on yourself in the same thread?
You are doomed on NYSPEED! The mobs will be coming after you too! lol

They are clearly trying to “teach the union a lesson” too by stalling.

lol clearly

Well it looks like they were serious about teaching the union a lesson, no wage cuts = no bailout.

“Auto bailout talks collapse over union wages”

STUPID fucks. Still wont concede when the companies supporting their livelihood are on the chopping block. If Republicans have their way with the Bankruptcy then the fucking unions are DONE. I hope they get fucked in the ass regardless.

Bill was voted down 3 min ago. Only got 52 votes, needed 60.

*sidenote: am i a dork for watching the preceedings live for the last 90 minutes?

Unbelievable. They would rather get their normal wages for another 2 years, instead of actually helping to keep their companies afloat by taking wage cuts now. Is this a joke? Am I missing something here? When the companies actually do hit bankruptcy, it will call for a complete restructuring of the company, and those unions will be get the boot. They are going to end up with NOTHING. Fucking retards.

I’m personally glad our politicians made a stand  maybe there is some hope for this shithole afterall

Yeah that’s definitely a good thing. But what the fuck is going through the minds of the Union officials?

who knows… I’m sure they’ll cave. They’re just holding out for every last dime they can get from the deal

either that or pass a bill banning unionized labor (at least in the auto industry) that would be fucking awesome

^No more laws, just let the market decide.

as in let them (GM/Ford) go under?

Whatever.

I don’t know… this issue seems even bigger than the bank bailout. Think about how many people would be out of work as a result. We’ll have that many more people collecting welfare/unemployment, not to mention the lost tax revenue would be pretty huge (and where else are most of these people going to get jobs if the companies cease to exist?). It just seems like something that our economy cannot afford right now… it certainly wont make things better
