anybody been to punxy, pa for groundhog day ? about 5 of us are going up in my buddys RV leaving in like a hour to go

heard its like a big party but :dunno: … figured it will get me out of the house for a bit tho

never been, but friends went in college. They would call and give us the play by play update. They said its a huge ass party in a hole in the wall town! have fun!

freshman year of colllege-- feb 99-- it was a huge ass party. then they cracked down and it was not as much fun.

I used to live in Punxsutawney and before the movie came out it was a fairly quiet event. After a few years of all hell breaking loose the state police and the town really cracked down on the drinking and partying. I honestly can’t tell you what it’s like now since I haven’t been back in at about 10 years.

Eh, if you’ve seen them pull the rat out of the stump once then you’ve pretty much seen it all.

heard that they dont let you drive up there anymore… you have to take a bus, and that this was the first year that alcohol was not allowed…

I watched groundhog’s day on comedy central today and still didn’t even realize that i twas today

welp just got home like a hour ago… Def was a good time and we didn’t even go watch them pull the Rat out of the hole…:rofl:

we just tailgated in Wallyworlds parking lot :beer:…cops were everywhere directing traffic to there for Tailgating, parking lot was packed full of ppl tailgating, they had buses running to go watch but we didn’t end up going…there was prob 2 other shopping centers lots doing the same thing

You made a good choice. A few of us went there on 2003. After the bars closed, we went “up on the hill to party down with Phil.” Stood out in the cold all night to watch them pull the sedated rat out of his hole. It was an experience but wouldn’t do it again.

ya, I had no intentions of going to that part…we talked to a state cop that was patrolling at like 3am and he said there was pretty good crowd there and i was like F that i’ll stay here at the RV and party :beer:

and i did just that :beer: :smiley:
