from recent news and activity im in the hunt for a gun cabinet and or vault for my guns and ill be applying for a pistol permit so i want to make sure that my guns and ammunition is safe and secure, so ive vaguely seen some on craigslist and wantad but would like a good opinion on what to get and prices and features people who have them like
If its just going to be a handgun or two in it you can get a cheap little tiny safe that goes under your bed or wherever you want. They arent very expensive. I wouldn’t buy a full size safe for handguns.
no i have a shot gun two long rifles and an ar15 and looking to buy more aswell so a full size is what im looking for
I bought a locker for 120 on sale at tractor supply on black friday. I forget the brand, but it’s normally 150. If your not looking to spend a lot of money and will have to move it again then I would get a locker not a safe. That’s why I have a locker right now and not a full blown safe.
There’s a locker for $120 at Dicks too. I’ve been searching craigslist myself, but might end up just getting that one.
Buy a good gun safe and never buy an other…
yea i really want to go the safe/vault route
Understood, I would have liked to buy one right now however I will have to move atleast twice in the next 3 years so having a 700 lb + safe is a no go for me. Personally I would wait and see what goes on special right after x-mas. Also like V8 said buy the biggest/best thing you can afford and fit so you never have to get another one.
i dont blame you to want to protect your stuff.
i posted a good video on here before on this topic. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ltK-bDbADa8[/ame]
heres some choices i have found to be good for me.
1.hand poured steel reinforced concrete vault. $500+ or less depends on size and ability to create the door
-
harbor fright has a $300 safe
-
a in wall safe that fits in between the studs at your home. could easily cover it with a picture. $100
-
a legit safe is thousands of $$$$ and lbs but the best option
it all goes with how much your looking to spend, where you want to put the safe, and the limits on bringing it in the home like door ways and stairs.
but with all this being said i think the best safe is the one thats hard to find. no matter who the robber is if he sees a safe they will think wait a min he must have valuable in there.
i know i could break into any safe and most of you guys could too. but i know i cant find waldo everytime. a good hiding spot imo is the best safe
yea ive been looking and ill wait till after xmas i think its a pretty good investment to me since ill always have guns so why not keep them safe and out of harms way and vice versa
I’m not going to recommend you shop their now but I got mine at dicks and like it. I actually need a second one.
Check tractor supply, bjs, local gun stores…
i just got one from tractor supply for my birthday, they range about 500-1000 bucks. it’s a nice safe and i feel it’s pretty secure. it weights 400+ pounds and is lag bolted to the floor. it’s also fireproof which is nice
Yup, mine is fire and water…
Must have IMO.
I’d buy nothing less than a 32. Then ou have some room for other stuff like documents and other valuables
fire proof no way. its protected form fire at 1300deg give or take for an hr. most house fires are alot higher than that. and they last longer
if you feel its safe it prolly makes you feel better but i can insure you i can get in it if i was a robber. a person with a torch or a cut off wheel will get in easy. those are things good robbers have access to.

looks like the robber didnt buy his crow bar from harbor fright
fire at what temp and for how long is what matters. if a bic lighter cant start it on fire it is considered fire proof
Building a room out of cement blocks reinforced with steel with a vault door ftw
I agree with you, but some is better than one.
Everyone who owns guns responsibly should own a safe. A deterrent is better than no deterrent.
