ccw classics are 2011’s trend… looking forward to what next year will bring
For wheels my guess would be what liberty vip is doing, but I don’t think it will look good on anything outside of vip cars.
If they made a 5x100 16" I would totally buy a set
People buy CCWs mainly because of their customization. Hence Complete Custom Wheels. CCWs are played so I doubt anyone gets them for the rarity factor. Anyone who buys these will be jumping on a played bandwagon for the wrong reasons.=]
Yeah. Well I wouldn’t buy them but CCW Race barrels have a greater chance of cracking then an XXR wheel has of bending and actually effecting you, IMO.
Seriously. CCWs are extremely reasonably priced for the quality, service, and customization. I’m not saying everyone should buy them but, geez, if they seem too expensive for you, you might be in the wrong game.
best post ITT. I watch people spend more on fake wheels while I’m buying real wheels in cool specs for less. It’s funny but I don’t complain because more sick wheels for me. I bought LMs for less than 500 bucks once, Rial Type As for less than $400, RS’s for less than 600, ACS type III for less than 300. I’m not giving exact prices because they might make people a little uneasy:lol
I buy old wheels all the time, ftw. I also love old cars. Just because a car (or anything for that matter) is old, doesn’t mean it’s a replica. I understand your analogy but it doesn’t hold much ground.
A lot of authentic, quality JDM wheels are multi-lug. Just saying. But 9/10 you’re right it means shit. lol
Actually this is the best post ITT. lol I like you. This is the most important reason not to support replica companies. If you can’t respect this than this industry is going to go downhill. If you look at Japan for example. People only support authentic parts because they take pride in it and have respect for what goes into making them. Support those doing it right, not companys copying designs and doing it the cheapest way possible because they know Americans are cheap and would rather fake the funk.
If you don’t get it, you don’t get it.
Some food for thought guys. Not trying to dive into the fake vs. real argument, as you can see I argued both points. I will never buy another high end race wheel for a street car again. I also won’t be buying some XXRs so I can pretend to have a Complete Custom Wheel either:lol
I’m included in that 1% too!
5 sets of Volks
2 sets of BBS
Not gonna count the OZs I had on the Subaru, or the TR jump offs on the M3, or the CSL reps on the M3 lol.
CSL REPS ARE FUCKING FAKES TOO YOU GOON
HENCE WHY I DIDN’T COUNT THEM YOU BAFFOON.
I love CCW’s and yes they aren’t very expensive for the quality wheel you get, and made right here in america which is always good. Much cheaper than bbs’ and many volks.
Honestly though most people don’t care about the 5 lbs they save or the marginal strength upgrade or the 3 pieces or the forged 1 piece. Most just want a decent quality wheel that looks good for a reasonable price.
You say knockoffs are bad for the market but competition drives innovation. Free market is always good for the consumer.
It all depends on the car and the person. If it’s a 6-7k car that is your summer daily/toy then it’s stupid to put expensive wheels on it in my opinion. Take my black bomber for instance even after it’s painted I might change the wheels, but they will still be either OEM GM or knock off. 2k is too much money in my mind for a set of wheels, but to each there own.
I don’t argue either point. There is obviously good and bad for both. Price vs quality vs performance. For those of you who can afford the quality and performance that’s great for those who cant but are looking for the style so we can pretend we have cash to burn… There are replicas. And when we damage our replicas we don’t have to sit in the driveway and cry. LoL
The whole u only paid xxx for the car so only pay xxx for the wheels is stupid imo, plenty of people in the car scene purchase a car because they like it not because of how much it costs, although obviously if u can’t afford it u can’t buy it.
This. The real vs fake argument is stupid IMO. The kids spending 450 shipped on a set of XXRs aren’t the kids dropping 1500-2500 on wheels. They aren’t the people who can afford it. I know I can’t, not now at least. I’d love a better set of wheels. I keep an eye out on CL for a set of legit wheels in my price range all of the time and if they ever come up, I’ll buy them, but until then, while I’m sitting around waiting for some baller ass deal my car is outside looking retarded sunken like 3" from the fender and I don’t like it. So in the meantime while I’m saving money, or waiting for some good deal, I’ll buy some garbage like these, or rotas, and despite the fact that my car will have cheap wheels it will still have more aesthetic appeal than it did before.
People who are going to buy legit wheels are still going to buy legit wheels. People who can’t afford them still can’t afford them. Do you really think a rep is going to ruin a wheel that’s already played out and still being bought anyways?
I’m going to buy 5 sets of reps instead of one set of good wheels and change them every week when I move back to the 518, just so when I see a shift member driving I can do this…
If you don’t get it, you don’t get it. Between Ollie, E, and myself I summed up what I could on fake vs. real wheels. Again, we’re arguing opinions which is never ending and exhausting.
I think the biggest argument here isn’t the fact people are calling them knock offs or cheap but the fact they are calling them junk. XXR gets called junk all the time when its one of the few wheels I see used at drift events on the regular with no failures and drifting has to be one of the toughest motorsports on wheels outside of rally.
The truth is a somepoint in a situation any wheel will fail and most of them will actually handle just as much as the other but for me I’d much rather pay $200 and have another wheel at my door step within 7 days than pay $600 and have to wait another 2-4 weeks for that wheel to arrive
The truth is everything is knocked off these days. You buy walmart brand cereal that is just a knock off of the name brand. Clothing lines are knocked off all the time. Sun Glasses. And half the time that shit is actually coming from the same factory just in a different location where cost of labor is less. Same machines, same material, different people standing around watching the robots build your shit. SO why so much rage, I could see if this was the hockey industry where Reebok has American factories and Chinese factories and American factories produce pro only models and chinese produce the pro zone which is nto the same quality material and they charge the same price but its not. This is a similar looking product for much less but that does the same job
By calling them “fake” wheels, you are saying that they aren’t actually wheels. These aren’t fakes, they also aren’t reproductions… they are CCW classic INSPIRED or STYLE wheels. If they were “fake CCW’s” that implies that they are counterfeits being passed as CCW’s.
Anyway, that’s my opinion.
Thats true also
I’ve seen plnety of XXR failures. A dude at the last LVD event backed it into the k-rail and his XXR LM reps instantly became 2-piece wheels.
lol thats what you call a failure?
did he happen to back into the k rail @ 60-70mph like one of the first ever LVD where that white coupe ate shit and his battles “failed”
But these aren’t just a rebranded ccw, if they were I’d see nothing wrong with buying them. And expensive wheels aren’t just put on my car because they are expensive, they are stronger with better build quality and more customizable. There is plenty of proof out there and not just that I’ve driven through some of the worst roads in nyc and boston to get to car shows and have never bent a wheel. And I do put fake parts on my car, like body kits since fiberglass is fiberglass and its gonna get destroyed no matter what, but there is a difference when it comes to wheels.
