Helmet sizing

So I’m looking to buy either an arai or shoei helmet I have a Kali carbonfiber one now and picked up the exo 700 for 80$ but it was way too tight and my Kali is kind of loose I know all helmet company’s sizes don’t match up so I guess my question is what can u compare an arai large to? I wore a large icon but the large scorpion was way too tight

ill tell you that kali is damn close to a shoei rf1100 in XL

My suspicion is your head shape might be giving you more trouble than sizing. e.g. if you have a round head shape and try to fit in a narrow head shape helmet, even if it is actually the correct size, it might still create a pinch spot for you. Also, some brand, iirc like Arai, have different cheek pad thickness, so you have a little bit of adjustment there.

I guess the really true way to know is try different brands on.

Hope this helps.

P.S. I am assuming you already and actually buy helmets base on the actual measurement of your head and per the manufacturers sizing chart.

Yes I try to and icon was the only one that fit exactly right for me… I love my Kali helmet tho it’s almost perfect just a tad bit too loose like the chin strap is not tight at all when in its limit position, I don’t want to buy another icon as I really would like a real helmet, I honestly believe you get what you pay for and in my profession there’s a reason why my tool box is filled with 95% snap on tools and I don’t believe I should cheap out when it comes to something as important as my head ( not that there is much up there after years of brake clean)

If the ICON you are refering to is a Mainframe, then the Corsair V and the RX-Q should fit you well, per wbw’s chart. You can’t go wrong with an Arai if it is within your budget.

You should try on Arai helmets most arai helmet dealers have to set up a custom pad set up for your helmet.

Who sells arai locally all ive seen is shoei the icon was Icon Alliance Rubatone Flat black

Check with Street & Comp, I am pretty sure they have Arai in showroom.

NOTE: Some Arai dealers are street-only or dirt-only, which means they may sell only street or dirt helmets. We suggest you call ahead to confirm that they sell the type of helmet you’re looking for.
