I couldn’t disagree more.
but for most of the ccs’s and what not. im pretty sure u could wear a football helmet or a water melon on ur head.
Then you CLEARLY must be better educated in helmets then I so please… share some insight with us.
What makes an Arai better then another SNELL rated helmet in regards to how well it can protect my head?
Plenty of advantages of an Arai helmet mostly not related to head protection such as, Comfort, Weight, Ventilation, Safety, Aerodynamics, and overall build quality.
It’s a lot more than just a SNELL helmet if you ride a bike or race more than once every 3 months.
I just want to point out that you really should buy a CAR helmet not a BIKE helmet if you plan to track your car. Most bikes helmets are meant to sustain one big impact but with car helmets they can sustain multiple hits. Therefore, when you crash and your helmet hits your rollcage once and then twice and maybe a third time its safe, with a bike helmet it can fail. Also, after any major hit you should be throwing your helmet away and buying a new one but I think thats just common sense.
These days most helmet companies are excellent so I would be looking for things like comfort and weight as selling points. Obviously its about budget but buying the best helmet that weighs the least is best in my books. Less fatigue on your neck when lapping.
^^^ Don’t drop your helmet either
Don’t buy Gmax hahaha! But yes Gonad, there are huuuuge differences between bike helmets, auto helmets, and especially karting helmets. Each helmet is made to withstand different types of scenarios and hits, and each one also has specifically designed ventilation (in/exh) to help with fatigue. One of Arai’s biggest selling points is that they lower the center of gravity on the helmets to just about the chin area, this combined with the lightweight materials used in the design of the helmet SHOULD make for great constant use without too much fatigue.
I think i’ll pick up aq Bell one from Ct… i dont do any door to door stuff, just lapping.
plus i have some gift cards left over from christmas.
I like the wide visor on the Arai, but as mentioned, i couldnt spend that much on a helmet…
Briggs is doing competitve drift though, at that level a few hundred bucks for even a slight increase in safety or comfort is a no brainer.
Like I said… SNELL to protect your head… the rest is baller status…
Whatever helps you sleep at night
BEEEEEEEEEEEEF.
I think i’m gonna buy myself an early birthday present and get the GP5-K. Its like almost half the price of the PED version and still boasts a nice style and all the great functionality and safety of the PED.
Alright, so tonight was a cheer for myself.
Went out and picked up a new helmet!
I’m hardcore into snowmobiling, except for '07 because of work and school complications, but my family has always been, especially up at our cottage. We go hours on end for rides out to montreal and back to parrysound, weeks on end, and its time for a new helmet, as I’ve been using an older style BRP Modular helmet which wasn’t to my liking.
I personally like the very basic of helmets. Nothing fancy, nothing special, just something to do the job, and look clean.
So I went out to my regular place to pick up my gear, got my crazy discount as usual (thanks to my father) and walked out with this baby:
Its perfect for both my long snowmobiling needs, aswell as a long day drifting, as I can remove a layer of padding for the warm winter days, yet still stay safe with second underlayer. Its specifically designed for a multi-use platform and I’m pretty satisfied, especially for something that retails at $249+tax, that I picked up for $165 taxes in
I’ll be testing her out this weekend, hopefully up in cottage country. Can’t wait!
I was dicking around at Walmart and found a helmet with bluetooth headset integration. Imagine rallying with a co-driver using bluetooth communication. lol epic
^ Imagine a brain tumor.
Those kick ass.
I remember doing a bunch of searching on the net about motorcycle helmets when I thought I had money for one of those (lol) and I ended up looking around and shark was the best. Not so hard you’d crack your skull inside the pretty helmet, and not so soft you’d crack the helmet right off your head.
I like Stig’s helmet (Simpson racing diamondback) but I’m not sure how functional it is <_<.
can anyone suggest a decent helmet that fits over glasses comfortably??? i have contacts but prefer to wear glasses…
I went with this helmet awhile ago. I saw a dragon and dot/snell 2000 approved but the dragon print is what made me buy it cause i’m asian.
mines in black not chrome red and has lotsa drift stickers on it.
