HELP: building/business owners

I have an art project assignment to create an “urban installation” for my class at UB. I have what I believe to be a decent idea, but need a willing building owner/business owner to participate. I would like to hang/mount/whatever a 4’ x 8’ board trimmed like a picture frame, painted white with large print that says “paint me” or “tag me” or something, and see what local artists do to it for a period of a month or so.

If anyone has a business or building that would work well with this idea and are willing to provide the space, It will all be done at my cost, and any damage to the building resulting will be my responsability…I.E. if i set it up on say a garage door or something, i will repair mounting issues/repaint, etc.

Let me know if you can help…I have a couple weeks to find a spot but need permission to do this.

I have my warehouse in cheektowaga, but no one would ever see or use it.

I’m open to suggestions/referrals to businesses I could ask…

krudmart, steel crazy, pink, hardware, staples, etc.

i bet you could walk around allentown for 5 minutes asking business owners and one would say ok within that period of 5 minutes.

edit: going down there in hollister with gel in your hair will not work. you will have better luck if you dress like an art fag

i woulda make the frame and white space and leave out the saying “tag me” or whatever… i think some graf artists might assume its a sting operation, even if not, i think itd be cooler with just a frame and nothing inside it…

ill go to it and glue my pix there

i suppose if i DID do that (glued my pix), it might be too set up, so i wish i never knew about it now lol…

I sent the mail off to my brother. They own a 6 story building on Main Street, downtown Buffalo. It has already been tagged, and is in a very heavy traffic area during normal business hours.

I’ll see if you can put it on their building…

And, hopefully after getting tagged, it doesn’t get stolen. LOL

you’d probably be better off writing “DON’T TAG ME” on it.

just like putting some junk out by the curb saying “FREE” nobody will take it. Put $10 on the junk and somebody will steal it.

im gonna come find it and spray paint it black. then people will walk by and be like “oh that nice black square is art”

Sounds like a very cool idea. How would you prevent unwanted graffiti ie drunks drawing dicks all over it?
