It’s what they used to call Detroit. According to WGRZ, the Red Wings obliterating San Jose pulled a 30 share in Detroit.
The Sabres eliminating the Rangers earned channel 2 a 60 share.
I can’t find the ratings for New York on Sunday, but Friday’s game struggled to break 1.5. In New York, one share equals 74,000 homes; in Buffalo, it’s 6,400. That means, assuming Sunday’s game pulled a 2.0 share in New York, 384,000 homes watched the game in WNY while 148,000 people in the New York market bothered.
And if you had the sense that NBC was rooting for the Rangers, you might very well be right.
good article in the nytimes

lol, thats you
especially during a playoff game…which is quite similar
though someone wrote in to ESPN at one point and pointed out the economic hardship that Detroit is going through. There is a lot of unease with all of the major US car manufacturers laying off a good chunk of it workers and such…
Not that Buffalo is in great economic condition but detroit is far worse off…I have family living there and they say it is really bad
