My new company doesn’t do christmas parties anymore. We get a christmas bonus though. I guess they used to do a big open bar party but it kept getting more and more out of control and they decided to kill it before people got sued, fired, knocked up or some combination of those.
These are just some of the reasons we don’t have parties.

we’re doing okay, jason bought me lunch before he went on vacation. i could have turned the music up and labeled it a party but that would have been lame.
He is like one of those Bank bastards partying it up at some resort.

as far as i know it’s all inclusive so it’s not like he could run up too much of a tab
Is this happening to anyone else on here?
I received notice at our quarterly town hall meeting that we would not be having a holiday party at all due to the economic crisis, and in the wake of the people who lost their jobs it would not be appropriate.
I work for one of the largest corporate banks in the world. Last year, and in previous years we usually have a blowout at Adam’s Mark with ice sculptures, at least 10 open bars, and food, with dancing and the whole nine…
Then they give out door prizes that are usually pretty decent.
Now my boss wants to hold a little party on site for our office, ordering soda and pizza, after work hours. I doubt anyone will even go.
Yeah I understand what is going on, and I’m lucky that my office is under contract to do the work that we do for another dozen years, so there will be no downsizing in our department…
But, on the other hand it sort of pisses me off that they couldn’t do at least something for us. I’m a non-exempt employee, and don’t get bonus money at the end of the year, so I think that I’m at least owed a party and a door prize…
Do you work for citigroup?
My former company is still having a Christmas party despite canning about 50% of there local work force…
i thought the same thing, i know that citi is definitely not having a holiday party.
if i still had a job, we probably wouldn’t be having a holiday party. :meh:

Yep sounds like Citi to me.
No word on HSBC yet, we got hit a lot less than any of the other US banks because we’re so international, but maybe they will cancel it anyway since North America was their worst performing business unit this year.
Oh hell no. The Bills party is still on, I’m very excited.
