Anyone have any experience or hook-ups at any of the Lawn treatment places?
I have tried a few DIY lawn treatment things like re seeding, weed remover, crabgrass controler, Etc. At the end of each year I feel like I’ve spent about $60 plus a few hours of my time, and it looks OK. I seriously don’t see any improvement.
So I thought about giving Chemlawn or Funk or one of those places a try. The things I get in the mail for a years worth of treatments says $140 or so. Is it worth it? Anyone have good luck on their lawn with it?
I want to fill it in a little (thicker) in some areas, and weeds, crabgrass that stuff. It’s not really THAT bad, but I’m allways looking to improve it.
this is what i use and my lawn looks better than the neihbors who has chemlawn. any route you take will take a few years to really make a differance. ive done the scotts 4 step program for about 4 years now http://www.scottslawnpro.com/pdf/5x8TearPadFinal.pdf
my neighbors on my street always use the spray on lawn stuff… and i NEVER see any differance in their lawn from year to year living at my parents house…
the guys with teh best lawns on the street always started from scratch with sod… and kept it up from there…
spencers house was sprayed every 3-4 months when i was a kid, and it looked exactly like my dads lawn, which was just watered…
We’ve done both DYI and funk(etc…) Its a toss up and cost about the same(if you use manfact directions)
after years we now hire funk (etc…) every other year. and in the off year just use some turf builder. Between using funk every year and every other year i have not seen a big difference
wow did that make sense??? we also only have them do the front lawn, as the kids atv’s rip up the rear anyway
Some 3,000,000 tons of the fertilizers produced go into maintaining greener than normal or necessary American Lawns, thereby squandering resources, an appreciable fraction of which are non-renewable and needed by the peoples of the world in food production. It has been estimated that 60 % of the nitrogen applied to lawns eventually ends up in ground water. Besides contamination of the ground water fertilizers have the hidden contribution to air pollution, due to the large amounts of fossil fuels burned in their production and distribution.
I don’t want to drink fertilizer because you want a green lawn unnatural looking lawn.
i worked for funk i will let you know its dirty water thats it … when i say dirty its the water they clean the trucks with and what ever else they clean the flooor with its just recyled water
xander do you stand outside at night hosing your driveway and your grass like the old italian guys? maybe sit in a lawn chair with a cigar in one hand and the hose in the other? sounds really nice ill being beers.
