I have sold a few logitech video camera setups and they were pretty cool, they would send clips when the motion sensor went off to my phone so I could see who was at my door when I want home. You could also go online and see your house live. Might be worth looking into if you want video surveillance. Alarms are a different story.

pm gotdubd he’ll get back to you tomorrow. but he’s a former installer for ADT home security. he can totally hook you up.

get an angry dog. Its always on. No need to arm or disarm.

lol perhaps

= all the security system I’ll ever need.

my uncle works for Amherst Alarm. the majority of my family and family friends have them

I have a bunch of parts laying around to do a job. lmk if youre interested.

at that point you can call ADT because “your house had an alarm” and its a free turn-on.

aside that, expect to pay 300 and up for a hardwired system. That normally includes 2 doors 1 motion 1 keypad. Stray away from the $99 special. its a pile of shit wireless “all in one” system and thats no matter what company is installing it. They can be ripped off the wall and deamed useless and wont be calling anyone at that point.

Theres nothing wrong with wireless, if you want some 2nd floor protection without running wires up air returns, etc. Just make sure you have a good panel to go with it. ADT and many others all use Honeywell/Ademco products for residential, and theyre good products, and easy to use.

The main difference youll see between companies is their monitoring rates. for the most part no one’s system is any better than the others.

You could go wireless, just put the panel upstairs hidden in a closet and unplug/mute the siren, then have a wireless siren installed in the basement. This setup would require a keyfob to arm/disarm, so if you have 5+ people needing access, might not work well. If a burglar broke in, he would head towards the siren in the basement, and the system would go off before he could locate the actual panel.

With most systems once you cut the phone you’re set to rob away. Yes some will monitor dial tone, most won’t do shit even when you cut it. The only real security system involves a cell unit IMO.

The above mentioned camera systems are nice, as long as you can check online when you are notified of movement. Of course, these can be defeated by disabling your ISP access (coax for RR, phone for DSL, fiber for fios, etc)

In two years of installing I was suprised to see how few people believed cell back up was necessary, regardless of how well you explained that theyre system was useless if the line was cut.

Mainly bc people are cheap and dont want to spend 200 on the unit itself and the $5 extra/month for monitoring
