Hook Up v. Generator

well I need one … we are looking at mid Wednesday early Thursday to get power back on in my area… they will be rerunning all new lines b/c they are old…

I need to run a pump that pulls 10-15amps and also need to run 2 chest freezers and a fridge

so what size am I looking for here

just post links

I may be able to rent one to you…

Is your pump going to be a continuous load? The fridge and freezer certainly will not be but I am not sure how you are on water intake to your basement. What is the HP of the pump, 10-15A seems a little big.

This reminds me I need to get my 1000 Watt generator fixed… as I need it for this winter…

anybody able to work on small motors?

Oh, and for reference.

Kw = V * A

So a 10Kw Generator at 120/240 will output approx. 42A
1Kw = 4A
5Kw = 20A
10Kw = 42A
20Kw = 83A

This is the one I have, more than enough to run my fridge, sump pump, forced air furnace and some lights.

i think the pump is 1/2hp i think… i know its a deep well pump… all i know is it will not be a 100% run … when you shower it turns on and off the hole time… all the lights dim in the house when it goes on

from the looks of it i need a 5k -6k

Re-check my post, I liked the wrong one.

This is the one I ended up buying during the Oct storm:

After comparing all the different ones my neighbors got for similar money I’m very happy with my purchase.

i know my mom has a huge one … i know will run my whole house … she just does not want to asnwer my calls… but that is the one i was looking at as we speek … i would have to pick it up out here they dont have any at home
