Considering the shop owner is probably thanking whatever god he prays to that he’s not facing a wrongful death lawsuit I think he’ll be prettyy quick to pay for any additional damage the car may have suffered due to his shop’s gross negligence.
I agree. I think when you go in there he will be your best friend. Hell, maybe he will even wash the car for you and make it look nice and purdy.
Ok just put it back up on another tow to take it to the garage and got a better look, its not as bad as i thought, only the driver side ball joint is missing a nut and another is falling off, the passenger side is fine it just looked messed up last night with only a flashlight on it… im still furious, all the work is being done for free and should only take an hour or so, at least thats what im told. and i do plan on taking it to another shop afterwards to get a second person’s view on everything.
thanks for all the help so far guys ill let you know how this all turns out
alright then, I just got back from the shop and wouldn’t you know it, something sounds loose and ratteling… i told the owner to put it back up on the lift and take a look at it with me, well now all of a sudden my sway bar links are both going and so are my struts… nothing was mentioned about this 3 weeks ago when i brought the car in for inspection and to have the initial work done, and from that time on i didn’t hear any sort of loud ratteling noise like i do now… i still have the recipt from the original work and nothing is mentioned any where on it about this needing to be done, which the owner swears was written down on the recipt…
so am i f’d? this is just getting worse and worse…
If you’d like, feel free to bring it by my place, and I’ll do a no-charge lookover. Give either me or Zac a call. Number and other information is in my sig.
How many miles on this car? Is it an audi (guessing based on your avatar)?
I doubt a ball joint failing damaged your struts and swaybar. Maybe if the endlink was low enough that it hit the ground when the balljoint failed but I doubt it. I sheared one clean off hitting a ramp at an autocross and other than needing a new ball joint nothing else was hurt. It’s possible most of your suspension is just wearing out.
