im used to driving 2wd small pickups with snow tires and 500 lbs in the bed. obviously cant put weight in the car.
my dad’s e36 is all over in the snow with michilen snow tires, i have cooper trendsetter tires on the stock wheels for my e46. it is not xi, just a 4door 323i 5speed.
is my death near? anything i can do? should i leave asc on except for parking lot adventures?
With snows it’s awesome. My dad had one for his winter car, I drove it all the time and I had no issues with it at all. Although your dad’s car not doing well with snow on it sounds a little odd to me.
I drove my E36 through last winter on all seasons and didn’t have much of a problem. It may not be as good as a FWD car but there’s more weight over the rear tires than on a pickup truck.
I guess this is the time of year for all the retarded “How is X vehicle going to handle in the snow?” questions. How is my car with 4 bald tires going to handle in the snow?
I drove my e46 last winter with blizzaks and it was great. Excellent stability at high speeds on snow covered roads, DSC keeps the car strait at 60mph on a snow covered road. I drive around 27k miles a year and most of my miles are in the southern tier. I did get caught in the snow one time before I had my snows on with my 18" summer tires and it was the worst driving experience ever.
Definitely get snow tires.
You can get away with having a ferrari if you live in the northtowns for probably 360 days a year.
everyone else, thanks for the responses. i was simply asking because of the 15 or so vehicles ive owned all of them except 3 have been 2wd trucks so i wanted an idea on what to expect as the majority of car enthusiats here drive cars, not trucks.
I’ll chime in also. My wife had a set of General Altimax Arctics on her '00 323 last winter, and had absolutely no problems, and believe me, she went looking for them, since she likes snow driving.
