How to replace a German Super Sedan *2ToneZ*

You get all patriotic and buy an American one.

First: I know the paint scheme is not for everyone. However, there were a few factors that pushed me to buy this car. 2009, 23,500 one owner miles, black recaro interior, ultraview moonroof, 6 spd transmission, proximity to home, ability to trade in the E55 for very good value.

I plan to pain the trunk to match the red and black out the grills on the side.

The wheels are gray which does not work with the color scheme. However what I paid for rims and one season blizzaks shipped was cheaper than buying 4 new blizzaks. I will paint the wheels black in the summer. Car came with chrome stock wheels with brand new tires. I will probably clean those up and sell them off and put some dishy somethings on for summer.

Car is 100% stock…for the next 7 days haha. HPE CAI and Borla cat back are coming next weekend.

The car still has the floormats in factory packaging and the chrome door sills are still covered in the plastic wrap. The car was painted before it left the dealer lot.

I have never driven or sat in one before today. First impressions: Great engine. Great Transmission. HORRIBLE SHIFTER (will be ordering a short shift unit this week) Traditionally bad GM quality interior. The radio/pop up nav is decent. The gauges are relatively boring and the car feels like I sit as high as I would in a small pick up truck.

The right foot pedal makes it all worth while. This thing is dumb fast for a factory car. The Recaros are pretty comfy and I like the heated cooled aspect as I had that in the E55 AMG.

Did it come with white leather slip on shoes? Dinner at 3:00.

I stopped to show my parents on the way home and my Father made a similar joke. Must be something about old people only remembering Cadillac as big boring cars.

Congratulations, Kyle.

Was it ever hit in the front or rear ended? Just wondering why someone would paint the car like that…

Either way, glad for you, seems you have had your eye on one of these for a while…

Never hit…Painted before it left the dealer.

Interesting back story to the car. It was owned by a wealthy family in the finger lakes. Their business was funeral homes, so this car was painted to match the rest of their Cadillac funeral vehicles.

that is a really really really weird paint scheme…

i understand the merit in getting good value for the Merc and their motivation to sell this car with that paint… i think paint matching the hood is also a good idea. and dont paint the wheels, get new ones. paint on wheels doesnt really last well. you can get some nice wheels for these cars… do it up proper. also a nice spring / strut drop of about an inch would look solid.

i also hate that generation of the infotainment in Cadillac. they break all the time.

this could be massively sick with some good care though… you’ll be crushing me in my M3 on the highway i’m sure.

didnt you buy a Lexus SC with a wacky paint job? is there an after-birth section in craigslist where you are finding these things?

Congrats. Glad it worked out.
I got an airraid with a green filter and the borla catback. Borla is not as loud at WOT as I would like but no drone, kills two of the four cats and has a good rumble so it was a great option. I have also been told a ported TB is a must to wake up the throttle response so I just threw one in a couple weeks ago. Who knows what else I will throw on before the spring.

Yeah, I was reading up on the MAMO LS7 throttle body. The airraid is the best bang for the buck, but I found a guy selling a lightly used borla and HPE intake for pennies since he sold his car. So I couldn’t say no even if I would prefer a little more noise at the end of the day.

Bing…The Lexus had a huge vinyl mess of skulls on the hood. And some stick on pep boys junk. I pulled all that off and just had the fenders and bumpers repainted to match.

I really like the hood the way it sits. The black roof I am a big fan of as it blends in to the monster roof. I think the trunk stands out like a sore thumb. The side “stripe” I think could be more blended in by changing the chrome out to black.

The wheels are cheap Bremmer Kraft and will only serve winter duty so a paint/powdercoat/dip job just to turn them black is the direction I will take.

I will probably pick up some very nice 3 piece wheels for summer duty.

As far as suspension, I agreed it needs a drop, but I need to do some research as I don’t want to get rid of the magnetic ride.

The car is titled black, so the under hood and door jambs still reflect the black which makes me want to keep the black accents as much as possible so it doesn’t look like some earl sheibs job where they tape the windows and paint the car.

Enkei Raijins for summer duty. Think they’d look sic.

Most guys go the eibach route. Some of the sedans even use the eibach coupe springs. Read up plenty of guys have gone down multiple routes.
I was either going to pick up a set of black factory rims or a set of Forgestars for this summer, but that money might go under the hood, or into the V3 (new house?) fund. We will see.

It’ll be interesting to see how the paint and aesthetic changes enhance the car.

yeah i like a slight drop with a good reputable spring for cars like this. fully adjustable is over-kill and opens up maintenance issues on a full-year car.

CONGRATS!!! Love these cars. I’ve never sat in one but I thought the interiors looked absolutely amazing. Is it just bad quality that I wouldn’t really noticed in pics? I’m trying like crazy to get wifey off the Benz/ audi kick and get one of these (ctsV) can snag a pep car(executive demo) with under 10k miles for about 20k off. + 100k warranty =♡

You are welcome to see it any time you like.

Its just typical GM. For example, the whole car door panels down is very tidy and clean and decent by GM standards. But you look up the A B and C pillars and its just shit fabric, and the overhead sunroof/map lights might as well be out of a Cobalt.

Compared to the E55 that had full suede headliner and pillars with switches that looked like they belonged in a higher end car.

I have the sticker for this and it was 67k and I think if I was considering it new for that $, I would feel a little ripped off.

Of course that is nit picking a bit as that car is all about the drive line and suspension.

Great pick up if all you care about is power, the interior is just awful compared to German cars. What made you want to get rid of the Benz?

I want a $1 for every time someone brings up the paint topic, lol. These are sweet, looking forward to checking it out! Hopefully you have some spare tires to burn off.

A 2005 amg with 94k on it that was super reliable was eventually going to go down hill and enter into repairs that I would not want to pay for as I dont hold things long enough to get the money back out. I had my fun with it and got a very very good offer on it as part trade so it was just time to move on. The E55 is definitely going to be missed but I am looking forward to inexpensive mods.

Congrats again! Is te previous owner’s last name “Bangs” by any chance?

Nice purchase!!!

With all the factors you mentioned, I’m sure it was hard to say no. Congrats.

X…
