Liberalism and the Democrack party generating the opposite of their stated intentions yet again.

ehh… i need more numbers

ehhhhh

  • the numbers they do give, a lifespan of 300,000 miles for the hummer and 100,000 for the prius tends to skew things a bit also.

ive never even seen a prius but ive seen plenty of hummers that have more than i person able to ride in them. i would think that having more people i a vehicle saves gas due to less cars on the highway.

read the reports for yourselves and stop buying into the conservative “omg, liberal media is biased” viewpoint.

Fact, the author of the Recorder article picked different numbers to compare and never stated which Hummer model he was talking about.

Fact, the author of the Recorder article used estimated dust to dust numbers for the prius, and actual numbers for the hummer.

Fact, the author of the Recorder article based his findings off of the H3, not the H1 or H2. The H2 faired far worse than the Prius in the dust to dust ratings.

Fact, the true dust to dust cost per mile numbers, taken straight from the CNW Marketing website are as follows: Prius: $2.865 Hummer H3: $2.069 Hummer H2:$3.585

Fact, the H3 was better in this report, but not by the number the author stated.

liberals :tool:

I like your rebute, but you have to admit, it’s a blow to toyota to even have their hybrid compared to any hummer.

I’ve read the report that you linked off to, it’s a decent read, but definitely still a marketing plot spin.

I actually was not going to reply to this thread until you threw in some political non-sense.

I’m not really going to even vent off much steam fighting with Mr.liberal just because you’ll keep going in circles, but don’t involve politics into something about automotive, it is what it is.

oh, this definitely was not meant as a blow to the original poster or anything, but more of a fact check to the person who wrote the article.

I totally agree though, that it is a blow to the hybrid market to have that car, and toyota’s hybrid synergy drive system get compared to, and beaten by any Hummer brand. I just wish the correct numbers were used in the article. I also agree that it is still marketing, and their numbers can’t be trusted. Some people, myself included, wanted more numbers, and that’s what the link I posted gives.

And personally, I may technically be liberal, but I’m much more moderate. I listen to Quinn for a little bit in the morning, and Hannity on the drive home, so I try to stay open and form unbiased opinions. Both sides can be accused of fudging numbers to prove a point.

I did my due diligence.

Disposal of the parts that make the mileage better contributes to the high price of creation and disposal on the hybrid cars. My response is accurate. The liberals that push us to be socially consciousness and the morons that nutswing the Democretin and Green party in this country that say “buy a hybrid”. I respond “They actually do more damage to the environment a LEV/ULEV Honda when decommissioned”. They go “but yeah, the Sierra Club told me to say what I said”. OK, they don’t actually say that because they’re so brainwashed that they don’t realize that they can’t think for themselves any more.

Both sides. All sides. They (whomever the hell They are at the moment) always try to hornswaggle the masses instead of presenting facts based on research with citations to “published” research data. You know, all that dry stuff that 1% of the population actually reads anyway.

truth.

It seems that we all agree to trust nobody, do your research, come to your conclusion.

btw, I was glad to see my wife’s car, the xA on the low end of the list! Most likely because the thing can barely get out of it’s own way ; )

glad to see you’re in the middle

The Prius is a good starting point for developing technology, but I have always disagreed with the hype. I don’t think hybrids will last, just look at all the problems in that article. Biodiesel is going to make a run.

15 years ago, there were geo metros getting the same gas mileage the prius gets now, and they didn’t have the downsides of the battery shit.

hahaha you guys are great. I agree that the article is very lacking in details but it does raise questions about hybrids overall efficiency

when those toxic batteries are no longer able to hold a charge they don’t just dissapear?
Its good to develope new technology but, in this case they are just shifting from one source of pollution to another. You know what the great thing is, it’s that the hollywood type, would never drive a geo metro for the benifit of enviroment, But they’ll dive a trendy hybrid.
